"Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard."

Noah.

I never would have thought that I would be working that hard in my life. Then again, some parts of the tryout were easy and some were not. Like the suicides we had to run. The first two were okay, but as we ran more lines, I knew I was going to die.

But then there was that Keith guy that would always help me finish the lines. When I mean help, I mean encourage me to finish them and to not give up. That actually helped me finish the suicides as much as I wanted to fall to the ground then and there.

So my coach was Joseph. He seemed like a nice guy, so I'm sure being on this team will be okay. Then again, I have that jerk of a guy, Corey who likes to torment me. Ugh. Why do people see me as an easy target?

Is it because I wear glasses? Or maybe it's because I'm insanely smart. I just hope the tormenting stops soon, or I have no idea what I'll do.

Other than Corey, my team seems pretty chill. For right now, Keith is my only friend. I don't mind being alone, I'm pretty much used to it, but it would be nice to actually talk to someone every once in awhile other than my mother.

Yeah, I love my mom and all, but having to talk to her about everything, I kind of wish I had more friends or at least a male figure in my life. Both of wish I had, so I guess I will have to deal by myself.

"Watch where you're going loser!" Corey had said pushing me almost to the ground before a pair of arms caught me. When I looked at them they were too small to be a guys hands so they had to be a girls.

"Don't let him get to you." the girl had said.

"I uh, uhm, thanks." I had stuttered. I've never talked to a girl before. Then again, no girl has actually paid enough attention to talk to me.

"No problem. I'm Jessica by the way." she had said smiling. Well she did have an amazing smile.

"Uh, Noah." I had replied looking down. I was nervous already, I didn't want her to think I was a loser. Then again, aren't I?

"Well it's nice to meet you." she said stopping. "Well this is me, I'll see you later." she said walking away.

"Bye." I said and walked passed her building and walked into mine.

I got inside my room and there Corey was going through my stuff. "What are you doing?" I asked, well more like yelled.

"You brought a blanket?" he laughed holding it up.

"Give that back!" I yelled snatching it away from him.

"Oh, you going to cry to your mommy." he laughed.

With that, he took the glasses off my eyes and looked as if he was going to smash his foot against it.

"Give him his glasses back." a voice said from behind me. I turned around and saw Keith there. Thank goodness he had come in just in time before Corey seriously damaged my glasses.

"Cool off Keet." Corey said giving me my glasses back.

"It's Keith. Don't get on my bad side, or you'll regret it." he said stepping in front of Corey.

"Geez dude, I was just messing around." Corey laughed it off sitting on his bed.

"You okay?" he asked me.

"Yeah thanks."

"Anytime. Don't let that jerk get to you, he's just a jerk." he told me as I laughed. That's what Jessica had said.

"What?"

"That's the same thing some girl told me."

"Someone got a crush?" he asked hitting my leg.

"No." I then started to blush. Dang you Keith!

"Well what'd she do?"

I had told him that Corey had pushed me making me almost fall, but Jessica was there to catch me. How, we walked to her dorm building and introduced herself. She was quite pretty and I didn't understand why she was talking to me.

"Sounds like a keeper." he had told me in response to my little story.

"I don't know, I'm not much of the ladies man." I said moving my glasses up my nose more.

"Oh don't let those glasses tell you that. First of all, you are an amazing volleyball player, and the more you talk to them, the more you show interest. Don't be afraid to talk to them. They are just girls, not some monsters." he told me and for some reason a smile had krept onto my face.

Keith was so nice to me and now Jessica was to. Maybe I was going to have friends after all.

I definately have to tell my mother about this. Maybe cut out the whole encounter with Corey, and tell her about Jessica and Keith. I know she would be proud of me. And right now, I was pretty proud of myself.

So there you go! Noah is finally shedding his skin and becoming a great man! ha. I still hate Corey. Ugh. He's just rude. Keith! What a perfect guy!(: If only book characters were real people..

Well I hope you liked this chapter. Like I said before, this next chapter will have other points of view. So don't get to confused.

Now a lot more things are about to happen and get more complicated.

Vote. Comment. Fan.

Enjoy!
