You and Brayden have been officially together for about 7 years so since you guys were 17. You grew up right down the street from each other and your parents were really good friends. You realized that you had feelings for Brayden when you were probably 14 or 15. You were absolutely terrified that you were going to lose your best friend if you told him how you felt.
You and Brayden were walking around the park just fooling around. "So Jess got anyone on your mind?" "No, I'm not really looking, just trying to focus on school." "That's BS and we all know that. C'mon tell me, we tell each other everything." "I know I just I can't." "Why not?" "Because I can't." "You can't tell me this, what else are you hiding that you refuse to tell me?!" "Bray it's not like that." "Obviously it is and you can't trust me enough to tell me. Right now I feel like this whole friendship is just a bunch of secrets!" He screamed. "Bray please, I..." "No, goodbye Jess." He walked away leaving me shocked, upset, and a little bit angry.
That was the first fight you even really got in. Sure you had little ones here and there but it was never serious, usually it was just who got to pick the movie. As you sat in the chair getting your hair and makeup done you began to recall a lot of the memories you and Brayden had together.
"Jess what if nobody picks me? What if I'm not good enough and..." "Bray! Calm down. I promise you'll get picked. You are too amazing to pass up. Don't worry." "Thank you for being here." "How could I not be? My boyfriend and my best friend is getting drafted into the NHL. I'd be stupid not to be here and support you." I gently placed my lips on his and you could feel his body relax. "Do NOT worry."
"Alright Jess it's time to put your dress on," Your mom said holding the bag that contained your beautiful wedding dress. You took off the robe you were in and stepped into the dress and pulled it up. Your mom and sister who is also your maid of honor zipped it up. "Oh dear you look beautiful." She said tearing up. You looked in the mirror and felt like you were on top of the world.
"C'mon babe please come skating with me. It'll be sooo much fun," Brayden whined like a little kid. "I don't wanna," You whined equally as annoying. "C'mon please. Just for a little while," You groaned and gave in. He cheered and ran to put his shoes on. You laughed lightly and shook your head and slipped on your converse.
You got to the arena and Brayden helped you put on your skates and you both went onto the ice. You skated around for about ½ an hour, not much talk, but it wasn't a bad silence it was a comfortable one. Brayden took you to center ice and got down on one knee and pulled out a ring. "Jessica, you are the most beautiful, genuine, funny, loving, caring person that I know. I could go on all day about the way you scrunch your nose when you think, or when it's really cold your ears turn pink, the little things that you do make me so happy. When I come home angry or upset you always have the right thing to say. The last 23 years that I have known you have been the absolute best. You mean more than the world to me. Would you do the honor of becoming my wife?" You had tears streaming down your face and you couldn't get words out so you nodded your head. He put the beautiful ring on your finger and you kissed.
Your dad came in after all the bridesmaids had left and told you that it was finally time to walk to the isle. As soon as those doors opened you knew that you had made the right decision and couldn't wait to see what life had in store next.
