You and Connor have been together for about 3 years and he is just about everything you could have wanted in a guy. You guys met when Connor was playing in Erie and you moved out to Edmonton with him when he was drafted. You are happily engaged and expecting a beautiful baby any day now. Every time you think about it, you can't help but smile because of Connor's reaction when you told him.

You had been getting sick every morning for the last week and Connor was starting to get very concerned but you told him not to worry about it and that it was just a small bug. When Connor left for practice you went to the bathroom to take the test you had hidden in the bathroom. That had to have been the longest 5 minutes of your life. You picked the test up off the vanity top and there were two pink lines staring back up at you, pregnant. You were absolutely terrified, and so many questions ran through your head, like what if Connor isn't ready? What if he leaves?

When Connor got home that afternoon you had just finished baking cupcakes and you made pink and blue frosting thinking maybe that will tip him off a bit. "Hello beautiful, how are you feeling?" He said hugging you from behind. "I'm good for now, how was practice?" "Tough. Making cupcakes I see." "Yes sir. Would you like to help?" "Why not." I gave him some of the frosting. "Why pink and blue?" He asked curiously. "Well baby..." You started putting a lot of emphasis on the word baby, "why not?" He still didn't catch on. "Okay true." You just smiled and frosted the cupcakes with him.

Later that night since Connor still wasn't catching on to all the subtle hints you were making, you were both sitting in bed so you grabbed the test you took. "I have a surprise for you." He looked at you confused so you gave him the test. "We...You..." "Yes, we are having a baby." Tears filled his eyes and he pulled you in for a kiss and then when he pulled away he kissed your stomach and rested his hand on it. "We are having a baby?" "Yeah yeah we are." "I'm going to be a dad." "Yeah you are, and you are going to be an amazing dad."

You are currently due any day now but Connor is currently on a west coast road trip and they are in San Jose but are set to leave in the afternoon so it is just a travel day. When you woke up you made your way down to the kitchen and made a small cup of coffee but before you could finish you felt a pain shot through your stomach. You let out a groan and leaned against the counter as the pain passed. "Easy baby, you gotta wait until daddy gets back home." You said placing your hand on your stomach and finished making your coffee. Your phone started ringing so you grabbed it and saw Connor's number on the screen. "Hello?" "Hello beautiful, how you feeling?" "I'm alright." "Baby treating you okay?" "Yeah..." You felt another pain. "Paige are you okay?" He asked concerned. "Can you fast track your travel day? Baby McDavid may want out today." "I will go talk to coach, call Britt and see if she can go over there." "Okay." "I love you baby." "I love you too." "See you soon." "See you soon." You hung up and called Brittany, Milan Lucic's wife and she told you she would be right over to help. Britt showed up probably 15 minutes later and just as she walked through the door you felt another contraction. "Damn it!" She came over and put her hand on your back and the pain passed. "C'mon let's get you to the hospital." "The bag is by the door." "Alright let's go." She grabbed the bag and helped you to the car.

It was about 6 hours later and the pain was really bad and Connor still wasn't here. The doctor said we can only hold off for so much longer before you need to have the baby. "Britt what if he doesn't make it?" "It'll be fine I promise, he'll make it." The doctor came in and checked everything. "We really can only wait for maybe five more minutes, this baby is coming." You nodded and she left but Connor ran in two minutes later. "I'm sorry." "I don't care, you're here." "I'm here." He gave you a kiss and Britt said she was going to wait out in the hall. The doctor came in and said it was time. Connor took your hand and gave you a reassuring squeeze. "On the next contraction push as hard as you can."

Five minutes later you could hear the cries of your baby. "Congratulations you have a little girl." The doctor said. Connor and you both had tears in your eyes. When they finished cleaning her up and brought her over. "Your beautiful baby girl." The nurse placed her in your arms and you looked down at your baby girl whose was wide awake and her big blue eyes stared back at you. "I will say I have never seen a baby open their eyes as fast as she did. She's ready to take on the world." The nurse said with a smile. "So what's her name?" You looked at Connor and gave him the nod to say it. And with a smile he told them, "Summer Rose McDavid."
