It has been 2 years since you gave Jonathan the ultrasound picture. You haven't spoken since that day. You prayed for months hoping he would come back but he never did, he got a new girlfriend and they look happy together. The only good thing to come out of anything that had happened was your beautiful daughter Riley Paige Toews. You decided to have her keep Jon's last name because that is how it's supposed to be, he is also on the birth certificate. She looks just like him, acts a lot like him as well so it is like a constant reminder.

"Mama! Play!" "Okay, let's go outside

"Mama! Play!" "Okay, let's go outside." You helped her put her shoes on went outside with her. She found a stick and ran around pretending that she was an Indian like she saw on the TV show she was watching. You took a few pictures of her on your phone. A car pulled into the neighbor's driveway since the house was just sold, I'm assuming the person is moving in today. You looked over and saw Kaner get out of the car. Riley ran over to him and pretended that he was an enemy. "Riley! Leave him alone." You went over to get her. "I'm sorry." "It's no problem, Hailey, it's been a while." "Yeah two years, now we best get going." "She's Tazer's right?" "Yeah." You said with a sigh looking down at the little girl who had paused her game and held onto your leg. "She looks just like him." "Yeah, I guess she reminds me of him, last little bit I have of the good times." "I'm sorry for how I treated you." "No I get it, you are Jonathan's best friend, that's what best friends do." "No it wasn't right, you were my closest friend that wasn't the guys and I treated you like crap." "Mama?" "Yeah Ri?" "Who him?" "This is mama's old friend Pat, can you say hi?" "Hi." "Well hi there cutie, what's your name?" "Riwey." "Riley? That is a beautiful name, for such a beautiful girl." She giggled you couldn't help but smile. "Pat, would you like to join us for dinner tonight?" "Only if you make your famous pizza." "I can do that." "Sounds good to me then." "Play wif me?" Riley asked him. "Of course." She took his hand and dragged him to your house so they could play. It was cute and you haven't seen her smile this much in a while. Another truck pulled into Pat's driveway and you saw Jonathan step out. "Hey Pat I think you have a guest." You said and Pat looked over and went wide eyed. Jonathan walked over and looked at you and then at Pat and then at Riley and it finally all clicked in his head. "Hailey?" "Jonathan." "She's mine?" "Yeah yeah she is, but don't think for a second that you deserve to be in her life." "Why the hell not?!" "Because you left us Jonathan! You left when I needed you, when we needed you. When I gave you the picture? That was the first ultrasound, that was the picture that told me that life would never be the same. But it was also the thing that I thought that maybe I could get you back maybe you'd change your mind. You have no idea how broken I was after that day. When the love of your life accuses you of not loving them, it fucks with your brain. I loved you with everything I had, every ounce of my being loved you. I knew when you told me to leave after you saw the picture, that you weren't at all the guy I thought you were. You are just like every other man in the world. You aren't even a man you are a kid that is too fucking afraid to grow up. But guess what sometimes life gives you no choice. I saw the pictures of you out with the team drinking, you out with your new girlfriend. You got to live your life like nothing happened, while I raised our daughter. The one you never wanted. You have no idea how hard life has been so don't just waltz over here and act like you deserve anything because you don't. Riley, say bye to Pat." "Mama!" "Riley now." She said goodbye and you brought her inside and locked the front door. There was a pounding on the door so you knew it was Jonathan and you didn't want to talk to him. "Mama?" "I'm sorry for yelling at you princess. I love you." "Wove you mama." You squatted down and hugged her. The knocking on the door would not stop so you finally got fed up and answered it. There stood Jonathan and Pat was telling him to just leave us alone. "What do you want?" Riley came over and held onto the back of your leg to hid from them. "Just please listen for a second." "Why? You never gave me the opportunity to talk when you kicked me out." "Hailey please." "Fine." "I'm sorry, I was an idiot and a jackass. I treated you like crap and I shouldn't have because you were the best thing that ever happened to me. There's not a day where I don't regret making you leave. The pictures of me at the bar? It's usually to drown out the pain that was left when you were gone. The girl? I thought that I could get over you by being with her but it just made everything worse. I'm sorry Hailey, I love you, I haven't stopped loving you." Tears started rolling down your cheeks and you didn't know how to react so you did something you never thought you'd do. "Riley? This is your daddy. Jonathan this is your daughter Riley." He bent down and she ran to his arms.
