You and TJ have known each other since you were 11. Your parents became really good friends after you had moved to Washington. Once you and TJ became friends, you were always together. In high school everyone thought that you two were dating, your senior year that actually happened. The best thing was that the relationship you had with TJ never changed, there was just more hand holding and small kisses. You couldn't picture your life any differently. Both you and TJ knew that life was going just the way you wanted it to. But by no means was the relationship perfect, it's actually far from it.
When you graduated from high school, TJ was drafted by the St. Louis Blues but went and played with the University of North Dakota. You on the other hand didn't go to college, you joined the United States Military. Your dad was in the military which is why you guys had moved to Washington in the first place. When it came time for you to make a decision on what you wanted to do it was more of a no brainer as to what you wanted to do. Everyone respected the decision you made. The first time you left was hard, and you will never forget that day.
You were at the airport in uniform getting ready for your first deployment. Your whole family was there and so was TJ and his family. Everyone had tears in their eyes and your dad came up to you. "I want you to listen and listen to everything I say very carefully, when you are over there do not let your guard down but if you have to you help protect the guys that you are with because they are going to have your back as well. And you know what happened to Uncle Bryan, but do not let that scare you because death doesn't take everyone over there. You are stronger than you might think. Everyone here is beyond proud of you and I can say I am absolutely honored to be able to say that my daughter is in the military. I love you princess." "I love you too dad." You hugged and TJ came over and engulfed you in a hug with tears streaming down his face. "I'm so proud of you." He mumbled. "Teej listen to me, I'm going to come back home. I have no intention of dying while I'm over there and leaving you like that. You mean the absolute world to me. I want you to keep doing what you do. I expect that whenever I call or skype that you are breaking another record okay?" "Okay, I love you." He said with a small smile. "I love you too." Your flight was announced and everyone knew it was time for you to leave. With one last hug and a kiss for TJ, I left not letting myself turn around to see the tears everyone had.
Now 10 years after that day, You have deployed 6 times after that making a total of 7 deployments. But you and TJ are engaged now. You are super excited because today you are flying home to Washington to see TJ since you are now officially done in the military. The Washington organization knows that you are coming home so they worked it out that during the national anthem you are going to be the guest since they always have a honorary soldier.
"For our honorary guest we would like you all to give a warm welcome to a person close to us and our team, please welcome Lt. Allison Johns!" The arena announcer said and you walked out and TJ's head shot up and his teammates pushed him towards you. He skated over and he spun you around. "God I missed you so much." "I missed you too Teej. You have no idea how much I've missed you." "I think I have a pretty good idea. I'm so happy you're home." "Me too, and I'm not leaving again." We kissed and it felt as though it was only us in the room.
