"Morgan and Hotch are following the shooter. They're by Riverside. J.J and Rossi are following behind them," Reid repeated back to you as the medics were getting the bullet out of your ankle.
"Alright," you shrunched your face in pain.
"We need you to hold still," one of male paramedics told you. Reid plopped himself on the couch next to you and reached for your hand.
"You're doing well, Y/N," Reid said as you squeezed his hand every time they probed at your ankle.
"Just a bad ankle injury. It could've been worse," you say through gritted teeth.
You spotted your sister glancing over at you from the side door.
Reid noticed your gaze.
"Want me to talk to her?" Reid questioned, while looking in her general direction.
"No, she'll talk to me when she's ready. Plus, we both know very well she's hiding something from this case," you reply as you continued squeezing Reid's hand.
"Did you want me to get you anything? You'll probably be stuck here awhile," Reid asked.
"I'm still going to work on this case, Reid, even if my ankle is injured. We are going to catch this son of a- Arghhh!" you screamed as the paramedic took the remaining of the bullet out.
"We'll just need a couple of stitches and make sure she doesn't put too much pressure on it," the paramedic explained to us."Reid, I am working this case. Ankle or not, this guy is killing children because of me and-" you were interrupted by Reid's cellphone going off.
As Reid got up to go talk in a more private location, one of the paramedics gave you a set of crutches to use. You rolled your eyes, upset.
"Hey, it could be worse. You could be stuck in a wheelchair or dead," the paramedic who gave you the crutches said, obviously attempting to make conversation.
"That makes me feel so much better," you say in disgust as you got a glimpse of his badge. Bode Willis.
"Do I know you?" You ask him as he turns back around with his "Doctor" bag.
"Yeah, we were in the same class together. Up to the day we graduated," He stated.
"Oh well it was nice chatting with you but I should probably go check on my team member," you awkwardly said as you got up and hobbled out on your crutches.
You turned right and saw Reid pacing back and forth in the private office, not talking on the phone anymore. You smiled down to yourself and then opened the door -with much difficulty- and you watched as Reid's expression changed.
"What's the matter Reid?" You stood by the doorway, not sure of what words were going to come out of Genius's mouth.
"I really don't know how to put this but then just to say it. The shooter was your brother -in-law," Reid's eyes were fixated on my face.
There was an awkward moment of silence before your mind could just recollect what he had just claimed.
"But- But that can't-" Your confused stammering was cut off by Hotch opening the door.
"I just told her, Hotch," Reid told him. You kept looking at the ground. Your mind was jumbled but more your heart felt betrayed. Very betrayed.
"Y/N, Strauss wants you off this case," Hotch implied, walking over to you. You could feel your face go white and the emotions you had been holding in, erupted like a waterfall. Well, not really, but pretty darn close.
"Y/N-" Reid tried to comfort you but you blocked him off.
"No, please I'm alright. I'm al-" Your crying overtook your words.
"Reid if you mind, I would like to have a word with Y/N," Hotch mentioned. You didn't bother looking at Reid as he left.
"I told Strauss that you shouldn't directly be off this case. That would be one less team member and we need all the help we can get right now. Your sister has been taking into custody for questioning as well as her husband, in separate rooms. Do you think you can do interrogation? " You looked up at Hotch and nodded your head, yes.
"Now if-"
"Just hold me, " you paused as you saw Hotch's confused face, "please." You sniffled and Hotch opened his arms to you.
"We're going to catch him, Y/N," Hotch voice was full of trust.
"Please don't tell the others about this," you say in a quiet voice.
Hotch's deep sigh was your answer. You hope things wouldn't be awkward between you two now, since you have always been on his "good" side.
"We should probably get back out there," you say, swallowing the tears that wanted to come.
