"I'll pick you up when I'm done at the grocery store. How did it go? Well, I guess I have my first case tomorrow morning," You tell Gracie as you lock your car and started walking into the grocery store.
"Don't forget we have graduation in two days," Gracie reminded you.
"Of course," You say as you hung up your phone.
Instantly finding the soda aisle, you walk over to skim over the various types. Picking up a case of your favorite soda, you were about to leave when you decided to get another case. The grocery store was of course packed and every line for check out was busy as ever. You hated waiting. You had always blamed your lack of patience on your mother.
"Shit," you mumbled as you decided to get in the check out lane that was the least busiest and got your cell phone out.
One missed call.
Your mother of course. You called back and she instantly picked up.
"Hey, I was getting worried when you didn't pick up. How's your day been? Anything new?" Your mom talked a million miles per hour it seemed like.
"Mom, mom, hear me out what I'm about to tell you. I- Something strange happened. I got accepted to become an FBI agent," You could hear the deafening silence on the other line.
"Mom?" You asked for her again.
"I've got to go. Something's just came up," Your mom always used that excuses when she didn't want to talk about a certain situation.
"Did you find everything alright miss?" The cashier at the check out line asked. For some odd reason, he seemed really familiar.
"Yea," you say making little conversation.
"That'll be 9.51," the male cashier said as he smiled while you handed him the change. Somehow,  he managed to briskly touched your hand without making it visible to others, but only between you and him.
"Forty nine cents is your change, miss," but you were already out the door.
"Miss your change!" The cashier shouted.
You couldn't get rid of that hollow feeling in the pit of your stomach even as you backed out of parking lot.
"Gracie, you're at the library right?" You call on your speaker.
"Yeah, are you alright? You seemed rushed, YN," Gracie said.
"Fine fine. I'll be there in five," you say as you hung up the phone.
Did you really get a bad feeling from that cashier guy? The way he smiled when he touched your hand.... You couldn't shake the thought away.
What was the name on his tag? Mike? No, Michael Holt. That was it.
Pulling up to the library, your train of thought quickly diminished as you saw your best friend coming towards your car.
"Hey! Congrats on getting the spot! You passed all the credentials, I assume then?" Gracie questioned as she got into the passenger side.
"They're accepting me even though I'm technically don't have my major but they know I'm receiving it Friday. My first case is tomorrow. I can't stop thinking about," You say as you backed out.
"I'm happy for you. What did you get at the grocery store?" Gracie asked.
"Just two packs of soda. Say, does the name Michael Holt sound familiar to you at all?" You asked as her, heading home.
"Holt... I don't think so, why?" Gracie replied.
"Just curious is all," You simply say, getting in the turn lane.
