Chapter Fourty-Eight

Julia shrieked. You covering her body
with yours was your first instinct. The grey smoke was rapidly closing in around the outside of your room.
"Spencer!" You yelled as you debated whether or not to get out of bed to see the impact.
"Put this on and stay here!" You told Julia as you handed her an oxygen mask.
"You're not going to go out there, YN!" Julia struggled to say as she clasped onto your hand.
"I have to, sweetie. Call JJ, see where everyone else is," You told Julia as she nodded.
You knew that walking was going to be a hell of a lot of pain, hell you didn't even know if you could walk. You took a deep breath before attempting to sit up. Your right side was already feeling like it was fire from just a little bit of pressure you were giving it. You gritted your teeth as you trusted the balance of a walking cane to hold your weight.
"Dammit!" You yell in pain, making Julia jump slightly. The smoke was slowly trailing into the room.
"Ok, ok," You breathe in and out as you took your feet step by step. You were almost to tears by the pain of burnt side but you had already made it to the door.
"Reid!" You yelled but inhaled to much smoke causing you to cough.
"Where are you?" You whisper softly as you put on a mask.
"Damn," you cursed under your breath as your pain was starting to increase.
Looking around, you saw nothing but rubble. Rubbles of the nurse's desk, the rooms next to yours, and then you saw him.
"Spencer!" You cried out as you told yourself to hurry up.
"Stay back, YN," You could barely make out what Spencer was saying.
"You're hurt," You ignored him as you screeched in pain.
"Help me up," Spencer asked you as you saw him clutching his left arm. It was torn up, but it could be mended with a doctor's help.
With your strong side, you gave a little boost to help him.
"There were three nurses here," Spencer said as he looked around. He was covered in dust making him appear to be grey.
"Spence, you are lucky enough to be alive-"
"There!" Spencer pointed under a pile of the crashed in ceiling.
"Spencer!" You yelled at him but he was determined to get that nurse out.
"Come on, YN!" Spencer urged you to help him with the nurse,but you felt yourself losing balance.
"I can't, Reid. It's too much for my side!" You yelled as you fell to floor. You angrily threw a piece of cement across the room, crashing into an already cracked window.
"I'll get us out, it'll be fine. It'll be fine," Spencer said as he came over and cradled you.
"I won't be able to be on the team. Not with this," you told him as he looked down at your injured side from the car bombing.
"If you managed to survive two bombings, I think with enough physical therapy, you'll be back on the team before you know it," Spencer spoke softly to you as you leaned against his good shoulder.
"The rescue team is coming!" Julia said as she had her oxygen mask on and smiled at the sight of you and Spencer.
You smiled through the tears. You wondered why in the world you ever placed Julia in the foster care system. You knew now that you would do anything to protect her, for she was doing the same for you.
