"If I can recall, Strauss said that Y/N isn't supposed to be out in the field," Rossi told Hotch as you limped behind him.
"I'll worry about Strauss later," you told him as you stared at the shed. The paint had been deteriorated from the weather and shingles were missing from the roof. To the side of the shed was an abandoned house causing too many memories to flood your mind.
"Are we sure he's in the there?" Morgan asked as he approached Hotch and Rossi. J.J and Reid were right behind him.
"Yes, one of the SWAT member told us that they had movement in the shed," J.J recited.
"How is this going to work out then? He's mostly likely armed so we can't let Y/N go in on her own," Rossi implied. The sun was beating down on your forehead, making you wish you didn't wear a blazer today.
You saw Reid start to speak but he was interrupted by Hotch.
"I'll go in with her, but she'll have to take the lead," Hotch directed as I reached over and grabbed a vest to put on.
There was an awkward silence as you noticed the team was giving weird glances at each other. Reid was trying to distract himself by looking down at the ground.
Thankfully, the silence ended when J.J.'s phone rang.
"What's up, Garcia?" J.J. walked away for a brief second and you adjusted your belt which contained your gun.
"You haven't seen Michael in years. Will you be alright negiotiating with him?" Reid asked you.
"Talk through my earpiece in case if I stumble will you?" You asked attaching on the somewhat invisble ear piece.
"Absolutely," Reid said as he went over to the ear piece control system.
"Michael faxed some over to Garcia. He doesn't want any weapons on you. That means all your weapons, Hotch," J.J told us as Hotch mumbled as he took the one off his belt and around his ankle. You didn't know if this was a good thing but you decided to take off your vest and your belt. You felt empty without but at least you had Reid through the earpiece and Hotch as back up.
"Be safe, you two," J.J gave you a brief hug and Rossi gave you a nod. You look over at Reid and he gave you the thumbs up.
"You ready?" Hotch asked as he looked towards the shed.
"Of course," you say as you slowly made your way to the front of the shed. You hobbled up the steps and took a breath before you entered.
"I'll be right behind you,"Hotch said as though if he were comforting you.
You nod and knocked softly on the door. You opened it slightly, just enough for a small crack.
"Michael, it's me, Y/N. I also have Special Agent Aaron Hotchner with me. We're coming in," you managed to say as you opened the door completely and letting Hotch close it.
The shed was exactly how you remembered. Empty shelves, the door that led to the house, but the only thing new was the bed that had been moth-eaten. The same old rug was in the same place besides the fact that the bed was on top of it.
"Michael?" you called out but no one replied. You began to feel the hairs of your neck stand up.
"He's not in here," Hotch pointed out as he looked around. Just then, the both of you heard three clicks and you looked at each in confusment.
Hotch went over to the main door which you noticed had no windows and you watched as he jiggled it.
"It's not budging," Hotch said while he shook the handle but was defeated when the handled fall off. He let it drop to the ground.
You limped over to the door that led into the house and that was locked to.
"Hotch, he locked us in," you tell him as you try shaking the door.
"Can you reach Reid?" Hotch asked as you placed a hand over your ear but you got nothing besides static.
You nodd your head no but then you looked at Hotch in worry. And you dreaded what was happening.
"The temperature is dropping rapidly," Hotch pointed out.
"I left my jacket in the SUV. Can you try reach Morgan or Reid on your cellphone?" you ask as you looked around for extra blankets or jackets.
You heard Hotch's phone beep indicating no service.
"Can't get through," Hotch shoved his phone back in his pocket, frustrated.
"There must be circuits in the walls that are cutting off the service lines, " you say as you limp over to Hotch.
"We need to find a way out," Hotch implied as he began look around the small shed.
"There's no windows, the door is bolted. The ceiling doesn't have a trap door," you stated.
Hotch got a disapproved look on his face. You watched him as he took off his suit jacket and put on you.
"You need to stay warm," he told you as he looked down at your ankle.
"We'll be alright. It's only-" You paused as you got an idea.
"What is it Y/N?"
"Passageways. Michael mentioned something about passageways when we were younger. I remember Mr. Brandson shouting at Michael about how he shouldn't come into the shed because of a passageway," You mumbled on as Hotch began looking around on the floor for a secret door trap.
"Do you have a general idea of where it might be located?" Hotch asked as he moved boxes around.
You scanned the shed but nothing seemed out of the ordinary. That's it, you thought! The bed, underneath the bed where the floor rug partially out.
"Hotch, check the floor rug," you cuddled up in Hotch's jacket.
You watched inpatiently as Hotch moved the bed and flipped over the floor rug. There was a latch with a padlock on it. You limped over to a shelf and grabbed a hammer.
"Give it a try," you urged him as he got up and took the hammer from you.
You began to move around slightly because you could see your breath, which is not a good thing. Hotch gave a the padlock a couple of hits but eventually got it off. He lifted the door and dust filled the air. You watched as he shined his flashlight through the passageway.
"Looks alright. There's a ladder down that goes to the ground. It's about two to four feet deep. Think you'll be ok?" Hotch asked.
"Yeah. Let's leave the door open just in case there's no way out," you tell Hotch as you limped over.
"You have your flashlight on you?" Hotch asked as he made his way down the ladder.
"Sure do," you say, not sounding to overly excited.
Hotch made a quiet thud as he landed on the floor.
"Come on down," Hotch ordered as you began to slowly descend into the ground. The passageway was made up of old cement and dirt for the ground. The air smelled terrible so you covered your nose with your shirt.
You were almost to the ground when you felt Hotch's hands around your waist as he set you down on the ground, softly.
"Thanks," you say as you slid your shirt back down and breathed through your mouth.
"Let's go this way. We might be able to get through the house," Hotch examined as you took the lead.
It felt like a cave down here with drops of water dripping from the ceiling of the foundation. You slightly shrieked as you saw a rat scurry across the path.
"Just a rat, shouldn't bother us," Hotch noted. You limped forward but stopped in the middle of your tracks. You heard Hotch gave a loud sigh.
"I think I found my childhood friends," you turned around and covered your mouth. The image of rats in the three skeletons made you want to vomit.
"Let's try the other side. Stay by my side alright?" Hotch said as he went over to get you. You nodded, feeling nauseated.
"What, what if there's more?" You ask silently, as you and Hotch began to make your way, to the opposite side.
"We'll get a team down here, after the rat extermination company comes," Hotch explained as he touched your shoulder, gently.
You shined your flashlight ahead but the passageway only got thinner. You or Hotch would have to take the lead again soon. The both of you walked in silence for a while until you both spotted a patch of sunlight up ahead.
"Think this is the way out?" You asked, trying to hide your hope.
"Only one way to find out, " Hotch said as he began to walk faster, making you limp with more pain.
You got close enough to see it was a window that led out to the backyard.
"Stand back," Hotch said as he took his flashlight and started to smash the window. Pieces of broken glass covered the ground. You could feel the air from outside make its way into the passageway.
You smiled as Hotch was finishing getting an opening through the window so that the both of you could get out.
"I'll pull you out," Hotch says as he started to go out the window but you felt a blow to the side of your head, causing you to fall on the broken glass.
