The city lights brighten Luke's features, radiating his beauty from miles away. I can't help but stare at him as we walk down the busy sidewalks with our friends. I hold onto him close, loving the warmth that he is bringing me.
"Hey babe?" I look up to him once more and ask.
"Yeah?" He looks down with a smile.
"Nothing, we can talk about it later," I say with a small smile. I thought about telling him my assumptions about Ben, but didn't want to ruin the evening that we were already enjoying.
Niall and Liam are entertaining us with stories of embarrassing concert moments as we walk through the lively city. I enjoy their presence and having the chance to get to know them. It amazes me how laid back and down to earth they all are; it makes me miss Louis.
"Lads!" Liam stops his story and yells out. We look in front of us to see Louis and Harry walking a little ways ahead of us. After another call, they turn around and wait for us to catch up. Harry has a beautiful, giant smile on his face as usual while Louis looks unamused; as usual. What a coincidence that we would see him just as I was thinking of him.
He avoids eye contact with me, while Harry hugs Linley and I. He was warm and gentle, and of course he hovers over the two of us. They join us as we continue walking and talking, Harry walking next to me and Louis on the other side of him. They seemed to have a special bond; spending time with each other more than anyone else and never seeming to leave each other's side. In a way it reminded me of Luke and I, which seemed weird.
I wanted to talk to Louis, but I knew it'd be awkward since the last time we were this close to each other, my boyfriend almost killed him. Luke didn't seem bothered by his presence though, and I felt more tension between me and Louis rather than him and Luke. I just wanted the old Louis back. At least he had Harry to spend time with I suppose.
At one point, I catch Louis looking over at me, and when I catch him he quickly looks to Harry and then forward. I'll have to talk to him sometime while we were here, I didn't want to never talk to him again.
After a few more hours we all decide to head back since the boys have to get up earlier than normal tomorrow to do soundcheck. We part our ways from four of the five One Direction boys since they are staying in a different hotel. Our driver pulls up to a curb soon after Calum calls him to pick us up. We pile into the car and sit in the silence, besides Cal and Abigail talking and giggling quietly to each other, as we ride through the beautiful city. Luke clutches my hand tightly and flashes a warm smile at me that I can barely make out in the dim lights that flash as we drive by. I lie my head on his shoulder and hope he won't freak out too much about Ben.
When we arrive back at the hotel we all decide to call it a night and disperse to our rooms. Luke and I change into pajamas and decide to go down to the lobby to get some food. Why we were still hungry after eating a large meal, I didn't know exactly. We laugh as we walk down the halls together in our socks. As we step out of the elevator, some people in the lobby give us weird looks. We shrug and swings our intertwined hands back and forth.
We go into the decent-sized food court towards the back of the hotel and go straight to the ice cream bar, laughing at the fact that both of us were obviously craving ice cream. We pile sprinkles among other various toppings into our bowls and head back up to our rooms. We sit on the king bed and stuff our faces with spoonfuls of deliciousness and laugh as we watch The Office.
"So I need to talk to you about something," I say after finishing my ice cream and putting the bowl on the night stand for the moment.
"What's up babe? Are you okay?" He asks as he finishes his bowl as well.
"Yeah I am, it's nothing bad. Well, at least nothing bad about us. It's just...I think Ben is the one who told the paparazzi that we were at the airport."
"What? Why would you think that?" He asks with a confused look.
"Well, he did know that we were coming. He knew what time and everything. He was at the airport. Plus, you know how he feels about...me. And he texted me at dinner and asked if I liked the surprise at the airport. At first I just thought he was talking about him surprising me, but then I realized he was probably talking about the paps. I mean who else would've known? They weren't even there when One Direction was there," I explain fast and hope he is keeping up.
He sighs and runs his fingers through his hair, a habit of his that I adored. "I mean it makes sense," he says. "I'm gonna kill him."
"Babe, no. You can't freak out. We can't do anything, especially not yet when we don't even know if it was him or not." I grasp his shoulders in an attempt to calm him, but I can tell by his heavy breathing that it doesn't work.
"I mean why would he even do that?" He asks furiously.
"I don't know...'Cause he's jealous. And 'cause he's Ben. I wouldn't have ever thought he would do something like that, when we were younger, but now I don't doubt it." I sigh, disappointed in what my best friend was becoming. "Probably to try to break us up..." I say sadly, knowing that was the exact reason.
"Baby," he says, turning towards me and forcing me to look into his eyes. "You know that wouldn't work. Sure, a couple of cameras may have almost blinded us, and it might be all over the news tomorrow. Hell, the whole world will probably see pictures of the two of us by then, but who cares? Yeah we didn't want to come out to the world yet, but I guess now is better than never. And it's not like it's a bad thing. We might both get some hateful things said to us, but you know that I don't care about any of that." I stare down at my lap, not able to look into his beautiful eyes. I didn't want to lose him. "Allis," he whispers. "Please look at me." He lifts my chin up with his soft fingers. I open my eyes up to his and feel the goosebumps take over my body. "Please believe me. Nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing, will tear us apart. Do you not remember all the shit we've gone through since we met? I know that we can make it through anything, because I won't let anything ruin us. I love you too much to let that happen."
His words always have a way of soothing me, even in bad times. I don't know how he does it, but it's one of the many things I love about him. "I believe you," I whisper.
"You promise?" He asks.
"Yes, I love you so much Luke," I say with a small smile that I can't keep away.
He smiles largely and pulls me onto his lap. "I love you more baby, and I always will. Now let's go to bed."
I nod in agreement and crawl under the sheets as he gets up to turn off the lights. Soon enough he is under the sheets as well, wrapping his warm arms around me. I feel at ease as I lie with him, snuggled up next to him. His blue eyes still manage to shine brightly in the dark as I stare into them.
"Goodnight my love," he whispers and I am soon fast asleep.
