Why would Homeworld create forced fusions and a gigantic one that will destroy earth? To get revenge on the gems? They didn't even know the crystal gems were still alive as stated by Peridot. They fought a war to win Earth so they could continue making Kindergaten gems. If the Crystal gems were gone why didn't they take the opportunity to restart the kindergarten? Instead they plant something that would destroy the place that was perfect for growing them. It wasn't for revenge because no revenge is worth losing the opportunity to create thousands of troops. It was an act of desperation. They needed powerful gems quickly. Something even more powerful then kindergarten gems and they could mass produce them even faster. They have plenty of shards from gems dying and when fused they're extremely powerful. Quickly Made powerful fusions beats Kindergarten gems that take years to incubate. Why does Homeworld need quickly made fusions? They're at war. War with the elemental metal gems.
