    Pearl activated the stairs

    Pearl was the only gem to actually know about the moon base and she was the one that activated the stairs. The moon base was created so that only Diamonds and their Pearls could activate the systems but somehow Steven was able to activate the diamond control panel. Peridot could operate it, but not activate it. More proof for the Rose Diamond theory and more proof for the Pearl is White Diamond's theory.
