Who's the true victim? Well, let's review some evidence.
Scene 1: Jailbreak
"Lapis, fuse with me!"-JasperJasper asks Lapis for permission to fuse, she doesn't force her to fuse, she didn't make her fuse with her. She begged to be fused with.
Lapis lied to her and fused with her with the intentions of backstabbing her. Lapis immediately seized control of the fusion and dragged them under the ocean.
Scene 2: Chille Tid
"Steven, you've got to go!"
-LapisDeep in Malachite's subconscious, a war was brewing with tremendous intensity. A struggling Lapis was concentrating on holding Malachite together and keeping Jasper under her control. Jasper was in literal shackles, weak and powerless, inside of a fusion she created with the thought that she would instead be stronger.
Scene 3: Alone at Sea
"Don't put me in charge!"
-Lapis"I miss her(Malachite)." -Lapis
"I was terrible to you. I liked taking everything out on you. I needed to. I hated you, it was bad." -Lapis
"How I was always battling against Jasper to keep her bound to me."-Lapis
Lapis admitted that she liked keeping Jasper around, she liked fighting her, she liked being in control. She liked Malachite. This episode told me everything I needed to know on this case. Lapis wasn't innocent in this. Jasper, probably suffering from a bad case of Stockholm Syndrome, comes back begging for the power that came with Malachite and Lapis says no because she didn't want to return to the toxic environment in which she was in charge of causing seemingly endless pain and torment.
Conclusion
This was a conclusion that was a bit hard to swallow but I know it's the right thing to say. Jasper is innocent. I know I'll receive hate for this, but it needed to be said. It's not fair to Jasper that so many fans out there are happy that she's gone, happy that she was treated horribly and then, quite literally, tossed out like garbage. That's just what I think though, what about you?
