My part- Jamie went to Kansas to be famous, an actor, and he left his controlling, overbearing boss(Sadie's mom) so maybe that shows that Lapis left homeworld to be famous. Possibly by destroying the crystal gems.
But what happened? Jamie didn't make it big in Kansas. And his failed attempts at being famous left him devastated, shattered one might say. That means Lapis' failed attempt at destroying the gems left her devastated, and her gem shattered.
