I was doing some research on ancient rock lore, and I found this interesting article on how Rose Quartz came to be.

"Starting in Greece we find Aphrodite saving Adonis. When she went to intervene she cut herself on a thorn bush (perhaps even a rose!). As her and Adonis both bled, the drips stained white quartz. Not surprising both the Greeks and Romans associate this mystical stone with love – but it is not the kind of love that burns itself out. Rather, the Rose Quartz spirit sings sweetly of the gentle love between friends, parents and children and couples who walk the Path of life for many, many years."

She cut herself? On a rose thorn?!

But wait, there couldn't be that much meaning in that. Until you read the next part.

Apparently, one of the highest samples of Pink Diamonds sold was the, Aphrodite Diamond.

Aphrodite cut herself on a rose thorn, right? That translates to;
Aphrodite Diamond, basically Pink Diamond, cut herself and created Rose Quartz like the legend above states.

Also, to add strength to this theory, Rose does incorporate Rose thorns in her items.

We know that the Crewniverse does their research, so this isn't too far of a stretch

We know that the Crewniverse does their research, so this isn't too far of a stretch. Especially when you consider this,

The same exact website that I found the Aphrodite legend above, also had this excerpt;

" Rose quartz is great for families, assisting in keeping all family members in ease with each other.  It's also said that it helps ease pregnancy and childbirth.  On the other end of life experiences, it is said that rose quartz is beneficial to ease the transition when it's the soul's time to leave a dying body, helping surround the person in unconditional love and pillow them with gentleness.  Rose quartz is also helpful for those left grieving, as its emotional healing powers offer great comfort."

If you read it all, you'll see that this site was more than likely the source of information for the Crewniverse's research. Meaning that they probably used the popular "Aphrodite's Legend," above as well.
