Have you ever wondered why Pearl's hair, nose, personality, and body seem to be more present in fusions than the other gems? Well I may have an answer!
Being a 3.5 on the scale, Pearl's are very low. Which means, if they fuse with anyone of higher rank. Even a Peridot. They will go up in rank. This is why Homeworld hates fusion. It proposes a threat to their class standing.

That's what the fusions are really doing! Making the weaker gem stronger! That's why Pearl is more dominant in fusions. She's the weakest gem! This even shows with Amethyst! In Sugilite, it's a fusion of two 9 ranked gems(Ruby and Sapphire) and a 7 ranked gem(Amethyst). Amethyst is weaker gem and thus is more dominant in the fusion.
