Gem Creation Theory

Jasper called Amethyst a "runt," everyone knows that the runt of the litter is normally the one without enough nutrients to survive. Amethyst was the last to come out meaning that the other gems had already stolen all of the life energy from the ground, leaving her with barely any, thus her small stature being the result.

The bigger the gem, the more life energy it needed to have to be created! The smaller the gem, the less energy!

Pearl being so tall means she was created by life energy as well. We see that she has an affiliation with flowing water in her room and also a love for Rose's tears that flow down her cheeks. Meaning that Rose's tears were her life energy.

Ruby and Sapphire-
Corundum, and therefore sapphire/Ruby, forms in coarse grained igneous rocks that do not have much silica (silicon and oxygen). That's all our soil is! Silicon and oxygen make up the majority of our planet! That means there was practically no organic life where they were made! This environment gave them their small forms!

Quartz- Quartz is made up of silicon! Meaning they had to be made on earth where they absorbed the life energy there! Giving them their tall forms!

Diamonds- requires carbon! Carbon is only attained through organic life! That means the diamonds drain a planet of all life before emerging from their holes, explaining their gigantic structures. This explains why the other gems, Ruby and Sapphire, are so tiny in comparison. They were planted after their diamond emerges and there was no life energy to drain!

Peridot can only be found in meteors naturally, meaning that the reason our Peridot is so small is because she was born in a meteor that contained no life, like most meteors. That also means most Peridots are that tiny.

Gems are literally parasites that suck the life out of planets before traveling to another one in a cycle!
