Garnet said that the Corrupt gems are attracted to them, why? What's so special about that spot? Why were the gems so against moving?
Jasper said that she was there for the, first war. Why did she feel the need to specify?
What if, there was another battle? What if in this battle, gems were turned corrupt by a ray or blast some sort?

What if the Crystal gems were protected because of Rose's shield and the Homeworld gems became corrupt?
Because the gems were turned corrupt here, they keep returning because they know for some reason, that spot on the beach holds importance. They're trying to remember how they were before, how it all happened.
What if the gem inside the lighthouse, led the homeworld gems? Hence the reason that it was stuffed into a wall, away from other gems, and placed in a recently built lighthouse with Rose's pentagon symbol in the window.

That would also explain why it acted the way it did when Lars carved it's name in the panel. It immediately felt like it was under attack, why? Why would it immediately assume that it was being attacked? Maybe because it was locked away during the middle of a battle.
Summary- Blue Diamond led another battle against the Crystal Gems and when the gems fused, they planned to use a blast, possibly the orb in the moon base, and it backfired when Rose used her shield to defend everyone and the homeworld gems corrupted. Blue Diamond was defeated and Rose put her in the lighthouse, which she then marked with a pentagon symbol.
