Beth heaved a sigh of relief when she finally opened the door to her apartment. "That is the last time I actually walk here."She looked around her apartment making sure everything looked good before giving Iris a call.
"Hey Iris why don't you come over and hang out at my place? We can talk about Eddie and have girl time." Bethany said rubbing her temples. She never thought she'd actually have to have girl time with Iris. Girl time with her mother was hard enough. A night out is different. Alcohol is involved.
"Sure I'll be right over. Plus I have something interesting to talk about." Beth could tell her friend was beaming on the other side of line. Iris always seemed to be happy about something.
Ten minutes later and Iris burst through the doors carrying two bottles of wine. "I say we drink." She laughed and Bethany rolled her eyes with a smile on her face as she took the bottles setting them down on the small table in front of the couch.
Iris pulled out her laptop out of the bag she was carrying while Beth grabbed them both a wine glass. "So what was so interesting for you to bring your laptop?"
"I've been looking up on the Flash. I had started a blog awhile ago, but last night I officially put my name to it. Barry, and my dad seem really pissed off, but someone needs to get this out there Beth! People need this. Those two just don't seem to understand the hope Flash brings. I was hoping you would understand since you had been kidnapped-" Iris stopped herself looking wide eyed at Beth.
"How do you know about that?" Bethany immediately became defensive. Her thoughts going to Barry who she had already had a tough time telling. Now Iris knew?
"Eddie told me about you being kidnapped. Bethany don't be mad at him please I kinda forced it out of him. I didn't realize that what had happened was so serious he didn't go into detail just told me some crazy guy had decided to take you away for ten years. I was just thinking that The Flash could be your hope. He saves people right? Maybe he could keep you safe from now on." Iris trailed off seeing the look on Bethany's face.
"Can we not talk about this? With anyone? I am not mad at either of you for talking about it especially without my knowledge, but that is too personal for you to just bring up so casually. I get where you're coming from though, and I will say Flash is the reason I came here. This secret is bigger than me just being kidnapped Iris. That man is a total psycho, and he still is looking for me. You don't know a single thing about it okay?" Bethany said fists clenched at her sides looking away from her.
Too many people are getting involved. Her parents, Eddie's parents, Eddie himself, and Barry was bad enough. Now Bethany had to think of Iris on top of that. Normal people are something too big to risk. They can't defend themselves against people like Dr. Siward. He had more than just the everyday person. People like Bethany now that he knew what genes to look for. It's easy to find those similar to Beth with the technology of today.
"Okay Bethany I won't bring it up again. My lips are sealed, but we are going to talk about The Flash whether you want to or not. See look at all the people out there rooting for him! Now Picture News wants me to write about him in the paper. I am just giving the people what they want, and they want Flash."
"And what about the things he fights? The things like him? His enemies. What are you going to do when they come after you thinking you know something you really don't? Are the people worth losing your life?"
"Beth, I know this is a little dangerous, but he is out there, and he will come for me. Believe it or not. I'm not afraid." Iris shook her head shutting her laptop. "Now why don't we drink a few glasses of wine and talk about Eddie? I hear you have some pretty funny stuff on him."
