With light streaming through the window Beth woke up immediately closing her eyes again.
She brought a free hand up rubbing the sleep from her eyes yawning. Something shifted and she tensed opening her eyes again to see Barry's adorable sleeping face.
Instead of getting up she decided to lay here with him until he woke up. She took a deep breath trying to force the thoughts of last nights not so nice events out of her mind.
She cursed her abnormal brain, and it's need to calculate every little piece and detail that went wrong.
Beth stared at Barry's chest watching it rise and fall peacefully. She smiled wondering if he was dreaming. She kissed his forehead, and was swallowed up in a memory.
She caught a glimpse of Barry, a younger Barry, with Nora. He walked in his old house obviously frustrated about something.
"Hey what's wrong? Were those boys picking on you again?" Nora bent closer gasping as she realized her baby had a growing black eye. "You got in a fight."
"Yeah. They were picking on someone, and I stepped in." Nora kissed his forehead when Barry frowned afraid of getting in trouble.
"Did you win?"
Nora smiled proud of her Barry for standing up, but as his mother she knew that this had better be a one time thing.
"Yeah I won."
"Hey you two." Beth could only assume that the man who had just walked in could only be Barry's dad.
"Henry your son has gotten in a fight." Nora said pretending to be upset about it.
"Way to go slugger." Henry smiled turning his face stern at Nora's look. "I mean that's bad Barry don't get in any more fights." He winked causing Nora to laugh kissing her husband on the cheek.
Beth pulled away feeling ashamed at the fact she had intruded on something so personal. She couldn't find a way to justify her watching more than she should, but she couldn't take it back now. At least Barry was dreaming of something good.
He subconsciously wrapped his arms around Beth tighter making her smile. She placed a hand over his heart feeling his quick heart beat.
Her head rested comfortable in the crook of Barry's neck for a few moments. She closed her eyes thinking about what it would be like to be with Barry like this all the time.
Without the threat of Dr. Siward or Reverse-Flash. The two big villains in their lives. Maybe we could actually have a relationship without the constant worry of losing one another she thought to herself.
She could feel Barry wake up, but didn't want to get up just yet so she pretended to be asleep. He kissed the top of her head running his fingers through the messy locks of her hair.
"Since I know you're not asleep I might as well say that what happened last night won't happen again. Seeing you so close to...I can't lose you Bethany. I know you think you can handle things on your own, but I'm here now. You don't have to be alone anymore. I'm here and I love you."
Beth tried not to tense when he started talking. She opened an eye to look at him. He was staring at the ceiling as he spoke. His hands playing with her fingers. Her heart swelled at the fact he cared so much, but at the same time she didn't know how to let him take care of her. She wanted it, but he's so vulnerable compared to her. Well as vulnerable as you can be with super healing and super speed.
"I know you won't let anything happen to me Barry." Bethany said as she sat up and straddled him.
"Morning beautiful." He grinned tightening his hold on her waist.
"Morning." She smiled kissing the corner of his mouth.
"It's almost nine, and I have a day job to get to." He said matter-of-factly. "And I'd like you to tag along."
"But your bed is so nice." She pouted letting him go to cuddle close to the comforter.
"The cute factor won't work on me. I give you props for trying though." He said kissing her on the lips before speeding around to get ready.
"Do I have to?" Beth asked sitting up setting her hands in her lap.
"Yes." He said triumphantly. "I can run you to your apartment to get ready?"
She wrapped her arms around his neck in a silent agreement. He picked her up, and suddenly they were back at Beth's apartment.
She shook off the uneasy feeling in her chest as she walked back into her room tugging off dirty clothes pulling on clean ones. Bethany threw her hair up in a messy bun after brushing her teeth walking back into the living room.
"I guess I know how everyone feels when I'm late." He teased flashing his teeth in Beth's direction. He turned around seeing the still noticeable warning on her wall.
"I'm alright Barry." Beth said wrapping her arms around Barry's waist resting her cheek on his back. "I planned on painting over it, but hadn't got the chance."
"This Dr. Siward guy is insane if he thinks he's getting you back." Barry said lowly. Beth walked around him putting a hand on his cheek making him look at her.
"He's not going to win, ever. Because now I have you, and you give me something to keep fighting for. Not that I wasn't before, but-"
Barry interrupted her kissing her lips softly. "I won't let him, or anyone, take you from me." Barry wrapped his arms around Bethany holding her tight.
Beth felt a warmth spread through her body. This was what love felt like. Crazy, stupid love. "I love you Barry Allen." She whispered burying her face in his shirt.
"And I love you Bethany Stone." Barry said kissing the top of her head."
