"Barry?! Are you in here?" Bethany called. "Woah what happened here?" Bethany looked at the mess of papers all over the floor as Barry scrambled to pick them up.

"I dropped a stack of files now I have to reorganise them, and make sure they're in the right order. You didn't call me by the way. I was starting to get worried." Barry looked up at her.

"Oh I decided to stop in instead. Calls are overrated anyway." Bethany said with a smile. "Mind if I help you out?"

"Please do. This mess is crazy."

"Almost like a tornado was in here." Bethany giggled.

"Yeah almost."

An hour and a half later the papers were back in the order they were originally in, and put back in the file room.

"How I walk you home?" Barry asked grabbing the jacket on the back of his chair.

"I...uh...yeah...okay sounds good." A huge smile spread across her face as she pulled him along. "Do you want to walk or take a cab?"

"Lets walk and then you can tell me all about Eddie in high school."

Bethany laughed talking with her hands as she told her story making Barry smile as they walked along the sidewalk. "Okay well senior year had just started when the Thawne's had fostered me, and I can remember at his homecoming he had told me he was going to surprise his then girlfriend Allison. So he got up on stage halfway through, and asked her to dance. It was a sweet gesture until he tripped over the chord of the microphone and tumbled off stage."

The two of them burst out laughing. "Did he really?" Barry forced out.

"Yup. He broke two fingers and Allison went with him to the hospital. He still got that dance though."

Bethany's smile faltered for a second. She didn't think Barry caught it, but he did.

"What about your senior homecoming Beth?"

"I never had one. Eddie offered to take me, but I didn't know anyone at his school so I decided to not embarrass myself. No one would've asked me to dance anyway."

"I don't know who in their right mind wouldn't want to dance with you. I mean look at you! You're so smart, beautiful, and funny." Barry smiled putting her in front of a window to see her reflection. Bethany blushed not used to compliments that weren't from family.

"Thanks Barry." She was glad for the darker sky so Barry wouldn't see her red face. He had called her beautiful. The rest of the way to Bethany's apartment was spent talking about Barry's homecoming. The dork hadn't asked anyone because he was so nervous, but went anyway.

In the end he had danced with a girl named Becky Cooper. The girl who's date threw up all over the floor. That's what happens when you sneak vodka in.

"What high school did you go to if not Eddie's? I thought you guys lived together for awhile?"

"I didn't go to high school. I had to take some crash courses to get a high school diploma though. I did it all online." Beth shrugged opening her door. "Would you maybe want to come in and watch a movie or something?" Bethany asked looking at anything but Barry.

"A movie sounds great." Bethany let Barry inside with a smile. Once she put Netflix the two took a seat in her living room.

"I've been wanting to watch this movie called The Perfect Guy. It's a suspenseful movie are you up for it?"

Barry shrugged. "I'll watch whatever you want." Bethany nodded putting that on sitting back against her sofa. She twiddled her thumbs unsure if she could sit closer like she wanted to. After ten minutes of a mental debate she decided to just go for it sliding closer. He smiled at her putting an arm around her pulling her even closer. She smiled trying to calm down her racing heart as she rested her head on his chest.

His heartbeat was a small constant as the movie progressed, and she was glad she had asked for him to stay. His breathing made her feel oddly sleepy. Bethany could hardly keep her eyes open. She wrapped an arm around Barry getting as close as possible loving how good it felt to have him right here. Right where she could hold him.

The movie was about halfway through when Bethany actually fell asleep. Swallowed into another nightmare of her past.

"You can't do this to us! We aren't lab rats! Siward get back here!." Bethany screamed reaching a hand through the bars at the mans retreating figure.

She continued to yell for him until her screams were replaced with someone else's. The high pitch made her scramble back from the bars. Her hands planted firmly to the sides of her head trying to block out the screams of none other than her friend Bianca Ray. The recently kidnapped girl replaced Max Huit. He had passed two years ago. Bethany was fifteen, and growing up fast.

Bethany could remember each kids name. Max Huit. Bianca Ray. Delgato Reece. Sarah Whiteknight. Jarod Posey. Taylor Zyock. Alexis Shraeder. George Toomey. Jack Wise. Tina Frey. Lastly herself.

The screams stopped, and men dragged Bianca's body back to her cell. Through her fingers she could see the blood running down the side of her face.

"No. No! NO!" She tried everything to evade being picked up by Dr. Siward. Soon he pulled out his handheld cane that would send small jolts of electricity to stop her from moving.

Her body convulsed hitting the ground with a dull thud. Her body would jerk every now and then until she was set down on the medical table, and strapped down. This brought her to her senses in seconds. "Please stop. I don't want this-" A plastique piece was placed in her mouth to stop her from talking.

"We will now administer PsychE. First attempt injection in subject 004 trial five second dose." The doctor held his hand out for the syringe. Bethany shook her head wildly around. A man held her head painfully against the table as the doctor pushed in the needle. Her eyes bulged in pain as the serum was injected. Each doctor stepped out of the room locking the door to observe. The plastique piece fell from her mouth with no one holding it in place. Screams erupted from Bethany's mouth.

Her head felt like it was burning from the inside out. She thrashed on the table no longer in control. A few seconds past and objects around the room started to float. The table going up with it. She passed out cold each item hitting the floor. She quickly regained consciousness the doctors storming in the room.

"Shall we administer the test again sir?"

"Immediately."

Bethany woke up screaming holding her head. Barry was up in a second holding her. Bethany stopped screaming gripping his shirt as the pounding in her head continued.

"Make it stop please. It hurts." She whimpered.

"Bethany you have to let me go." Her grip loosened, but she couldn't bring herself to let go. That was until her brain shutdown, and she dead weighted against him.

"Bethany? Beth?!" Barry rushed her to S.T.A.R. Labs. "Help her." He said putting her on the hospital bed they had.
