That was the first night Bethany slept peacefully. She woke up ten minutes earlier than she was supposed to so she decided to make breakfast. She hummed swaying her hips a little a huge smile on her face. A knock on the door brought her to her senses.
She opened the door feet planted in a fighting stance learning from experience not to just flip someone who knocks on your door. "Oh hey Iris." Beth said plastering a smile on her face relaxing instantly "And Barry." She said awkwardly opening the door for them.
"What brings you two over so early in the morning?" Bethany asked already uncomfortable. She was glad you couldn't see the writing on the wall from this angle. She planned to cover that up sometime today.
"We wanted to drop in, and find out why you left so early yesterday didn't we Barry?" Iris said elbowing him in the side. I gave the two a weird look avoiding looking at Barry who did the same although for a completely different reason.
"I just got tired. I wanted to get home. No worries." I shrugged turning around a huge smile on my face remembering last night. Maybe things wouldn't be so bad after all.
"You and Cisco seemed pretty close last night. What's that about?" Beth lead them into the kitchen finishing getting her breakfast around.
"Hmm? Oh we were just talking. I happen to like dancing. Barry seemed preoccupied otherwise I would've asked him." Beth said staring right at Barry. Her toast popped so she turned around buttering it.
"I told you." Iris hissed probably trying to be quiet since she was talking to Barry. Bethany pretended not to over hear when Barry just sighed sitting down Iris following suit.
"Bethany you seem out of it this morning. Something good happen last night?" Iris said with a smirk on her face.
"Wouldn't you like to know." Bethany smirked at her friend giving Iris an innocent wink. Beth made eye contact with Barry who looked away a small blush on his face. Bethany ignored it bringing her attention back to Iris.
"We will continue that later. Are you busy today? I thought you, me, Eddie, and Barry could hang out. Like a double date sort of later today. That's okay right?"
Bethany stopped what she was doing narrowing her eyes slightly in Iris's direction. "You do know that we-" Bethany cut herself off knowing what she was going to say would be incredibly rude in front of Barry. "Actually I can't today Iris. I am pretty busy. All week actually. But I'm sure you will all have fun without me being there."
"Oh you can't honestly be busy all week." Iris laughed getting on Bethany's nerves a little bit. Barry seemed to shrink in his seat sensing Bethany was getting angry. He excused himself leaving the two girls alone.
"Beth why don't you want to go on a date with us. You and Barry are such a cute couple and-"
"We are not together Iris!" Beth hissed trying to not be too loud so Barry wouldn't overhear. "I am busy today. I'm sorry if that's inconvenient for you, but I don't think I have the time to hang out with someone who doesn't-"
"Is friendship too inconvenient for you?" Iris snapped cutting Bethany off. "Sorry for wanting to hang out with my friend, and do nice things like help you get together with Barry"
"Watching you and Eddie make out is nice?" Bethany scoffed. "Iris I am not in the mood for this. Stop trying to push things that aren't there. Barry and I just don't work."
"Fine." She yelled turning on her heel. Bethany hadn't noticed Barry standing in the door way. Their eyes met, and the world seemed to stop. He shook his head at her, and it felt like a slap. They both left Iris slamming the door behind her. This was good for them. Maybe now they would be safe.
