Minutes after I wake up I receive a phone call from Zabdiel.
"Good morning, amor." He says through the phone and I immediately smile.
"Buenos días. ¿Que onda, mi Zab?"
"Como es domingo, mi familia y yo queremos invitarlas a ti y a tu mamá al iglesia." He says. He's so sweet and so is his family. Estoy agradecida de aver conocido a gente tan amable y bienvenida.
"Me gusta esa idea. Déjame hablar con mi mami y luego te aviso que me dijo." I say to him.
"Ok, de verdad espero que puedas ir. De hecho yo canto casi todas las misas." He admits.
"Te quiero ver cantar de nuevo. Mándame la dirección. No tenemos nada planeado, creo que si podemos ir." I tell him.
"Ahí te veo entonces. La misa empieza a las una." He informs me. "Bye, Camila."
"Mamá!" I call her out.
"¿Si?" She responds.
"Zabdiel y su familia quieren que los acompañemos a misa." I say and wait for her response nervously.
"Vamos alistarnos para que no se nos haga tarde." She says and I let out a sigh. I almost thought she said no.
Since it's church that I'm going to, I do my best to look presentable. I get into the shower and after I brush my teeth and blow dry my hair as quickly as possible.
I curl my long brown hair into waves and then use Bobby pins to keep my hair out of my face. I finish my makeup, not too extreme but enough to be noticeable. I change into my outfit and I'm ready.
"Mamá, lista?" I ask her.
Thank god my mom is already ready. She is dressed in a turquoise dress along with silver jewelry and silver heels. Finally we head to the rented car and drive to church. Zabdiel sent me the address through iMessage and I type it in the GPS.
I dial Zabdiel's number once we park in the parking lot.
"Ya llegamos. ¿Estás aquí?" I ask Zabdiel.
"Si, estamos en frente del iglesia." He says.
"Ah ok. Ahí te veo." I tell him.
My mom and I walk to the front of the church and I immediately see Zabdiel and his family. As we're walking they greet us with big smiles and hugs. My mom is introduced to Zabdiel's parents and they already seem to get along with her as they are very welcoming.
"¡Pero mira que bella!" Zabdiel grabs my hand and spins me around. In heels, I'm only a few inches shorter than him.
"Gracias, guapo." I blush.
"Voy a prepararme para cantar. Ahí me veras." He dismisses himself. My mom and I, along with Zabdiel's family, sit in the front row.
During the mass, we sing and perform prayers when it's time. Zabdiel performs along with other people with his guitar. Before I know it, the mass is over.
"Gracias por acompañarnos, en serio." Zabdiel's mom tells my mom and I.
"¡Gracias a usted! Muy amable de su parte avernos invitado." My mom says to her.
"Fue un placer, Isabel. ¿Quisieran pasar el resto de su domingo en nuestro hogar?" Zabdiel's mom Noemi asks.
"¿De verdad? Apenas nos conoce." My mother tells her.
