Chapter 23: El Primer Live Show

"Algún pajarito me dijo que usted y Camila estaban aquí en este dressing room bien solitos hace media hora." Richard tells me as we're getting our last minute touches in our outfits.

My thoughts take back to when Camila and I were here alone. We sneaked into this dressing room's bathroom and she gave me a hand job in there. I bite my lip just thinking of it.

"¿Zabdi?" Richard interrupts my thoughts. "Se muy bien lo qué pasó."

"Estaba mi mama aquí con nosotros dos, no seas mal pensado." I lie to him.

"Ok, pues. Ya vámonos con los demás por qué ya casi empieza el show." Richard says and we exit the dressing room to go backstage.

Richard and I go huddle up with the ten other finalist. We're about to go on stage in just minutes. We all say a prayer and wish each other good luck. After our talk we are told to get into position.

"Interpretando 'La Gozadera' recibiríamos a los 12 finalistas de La Banda!" We hear Alejandra Espinoza say. All of us pass through a crowd of fans to get to the stage.

Y se formó la gozadera, Miami me lo confirmó
Y el arroz con habichuela, Puerto Rico me lo regaló
Y la tambora merenguera, Dominicana ya repicó
Con México, Colombia y Venezuela
Y del caribe somos tú y yo

After performing a piece of that song with all of the boys we head on over to face the judges. We already know what they're going to say but they want to announce it to the whole audience.

"Yo no sé si en su casa lo noto pero solo tenemos 11 finalistas en el escenario. Lamentable mente Kevin González decidió retirarse de la competencia." Alejandra says. "Ricky, tú fuiste el que le dio el 'sí' a Kevin, que piensas de esto?"

"Me dio mucha pena pero esta fue su decisión. Siempre lo apoyaremos a él y a su familia. Muchas bendiciones." Ricky comments.

"¡Le damos un fuerte abrazo a Kevin!" Alejandra says and we all applaud.

"Ya sé que todos están preguntando quién va ocupar el lugar de Kevin. Alejandro, tengo entendido que tú nos darás el nombre de ese afortunad, verdad?" Alejandra continues while all of us are backstage already again.

"Así es... este lo voy a decir muy rápido antes que me quite la palabra Laura. Me da mucho gusto que vuelva. Así que le damos un aplauso fuerte y bienvenida a Alan Matheus." Alejandro says and we see Alan go excitedly up on stage.

Alan thanks the judges for giving him a second chance and then joins us backstage. Of course we already knew he was coming back because we were in the practices these past two weeks together but we still welcome him again.

Richard, Johann, Aaron, and I are about to be the first band of the week to perform.

"Interpretando 'Fun' de Pitbull llegan Aarón, Zabdiel, Richard y Johann!" Alejandra tells the audience. As we're setting up, they show how we prepared for our group performance this week on the screen. The music starts signalizing to begin our performance.

We sing the chorus of the song and then it's time for my solo.

It isn't hard to spot Camila while I'm on stage. As I'm singing my part in the song I point to her. I see her and my mom dancing to the music. It's an amazing feeling to see the two women I love supporting me.
