Naruto: Rewritten

Chapter 50

(((There is going to be a few time skips and POV changes throughout this Chapter, so bear with it)) ~ means time skip and _ means change of POV or BIG time leap)

Sakura rushed around her set area, trying to set up the make-shift hospital that she and the rest of the medics would be using for the next unknown length of time. She stopped suddenly and looked up at the horizon. She could see three people standing side-by-side, two of which holding hands and one with his arm around the waist of the middle one.

She smiled sadly and walked over to the trio, slipping her hand into the blond male's hand. Naruto looked down at her and sighed as a few of the others joined their line, until finally the original 10 ninja from their graduating year stood in a line facing the horizon that would soon bare their enemies.

"I swear I'll see all of you alive at the end of this" Sakura sighed. "Yeah, we'll all go to the BBQ shop and eat as many pork and beef rips and rice as we can" Homura agreed. The others murmured in agreement and Chōji exclaimed in excitement.

The group all broke apart, Shikamaru, Hinata and Shino going to the intelligence tents, Naruto, Sasuke, Chōji and Kiba going to the front lines and Ino, Sakura and Homura going back to the almost finished hospital tents. Homura sent one last look at the man she lived before turning to the tents before her and running through the maze to the centre to gather her instructions.

Homura ran through friend and foe to reach her destination, she ducked a weaved through multiple Jutsu and physical blows to reach the person she was looking for. As she ran she remembered the last few months of hell she and all her friends had lived through. She remembered sobbing with Ino and Sakura when the hospital, which had grown to a phenomenal size, was attacked killing everyone but those smart enough to run. She remembered having to drag Neji and Lee from the battle field so as to not lose them.

The memories brought tears to her eyes as she finally found the person she was looking for; Kiba Inuzuka. She ducked a final Jutsu and ran over to him and Akamaru. Kiba, who had just finished off an enemy, caught her and hugged her gently. Without so much as a word the two understood each other and disappeared in a flash of smoke.

7 months had passed since Kiba and Homura had disappeared without a trace and Naruto was beginning to wonder the worst. But he couldn't worry about them and keep his friends alive at the same time, he realised as he held Hinata's broken body in his arms, he teleported both himself and her to the hospital tents, dropping her off with Sakura and netting Sasuke outside.

The both shared a silent moment of understanding before leaping off on the direction of the, once smooth, battle field. They both took in the blood stained, crater filled landscape of once pristine forests and rivers. Now all that was left was dry river beds and spluttered trees, and thousands of dead or wounded soldiers.

"Naruto. We need to finish this, before anyone else dies" Sasuke pleaded. "Yeah we do" Naruto responded sadly. Those were the first words the two had spoken in 3 months, everything was in utter silence, their Jutsu, their fighting. Not one has uttered a word to each other before that time.

"C'mon then. This enemy won't defeat itself" Sasuke tried to joke. Naruto cracked a half-heated smile, in sake of their friendship before leaping off into battle, feeling the cold sting of war creep into his mind.

The wound to his arm hurt as he tried dodging every blow his enemy threw at him, but dodging solid blades of pure metal was harder then he thought, especially since he had to keep Hinata from being hit as well. Naruto had one arm wrapped around her shoulders and another holding a Kunai, defecting as many blows as he could. It wasn't easy protecting someone at such a close range and he could feel the pressure of it crushing him.
