Seeing them together, it was a crushing feeling that I could never seem to get rid of. My heart clenched as she sat in his lap, her perfect pink lips pecking his cheek every once in a while, it made me sick to my stomach. She didn't really love him, she was using him for her own pleasure. Gods I just wanted to punch that pretty little face of hers.

Calypso flipped her cinnamon hair over her shoulder, her perfect smile captivating Leo I could tell, he stared lovingly up at her with a goofy grin on his face. Envy coursed through every vein in my body, I wanted that to be me. I was the one who truly loved him, not that fake goddess. She didn't deserve Leo's kindness, he did everything for her. Carried her things, did jobs for her, he was a mat that she walked all over.

Not standing to see another second of them together I got up from the Poseidon dining table, Percy looking up with a mouthful of spaghetti.

"Wer uh oin'?" (Where you going?) He asked and I ignored him walking away. The last thing I needed was for him to know my true feelings.

I made my way out of the dining pavilion, my feet taking me wherever they wanted to go. I didn't care where I ended up, as long as it was away from her. The summer heat beat down on me and I wiped my forehead to feel sweat soak my skin. Gods was it hot today. I walked down to Long Island Sound, the water cooling the air around it. I sat in the damp sand, feeling the coolness seep through my clothes and refresh my burning skin.

It felt nice, everything was calm and quiet, the only noises birds and the occasional sound of nymphs and dryads giggling. I pulled my knees up to my chest enjoying the tranquility up until a voice that I knew all too well destroyed every ounce of release that I had felt earlier.

"Hey Liz!" They said. Every muscle in my body clenched, my eyes snapped open as the person sat beside me. I looked over to see Leo grinning, his chocolate brown eyes sparkling with so much happiness. Happiness caused by false love.

"I haven't seen you in forever, where've you been?" He asked.

I swallowed hard trying to desperately think of something to say. Damn it why was I so weak at moments like this?

"Oh you know, been super busy. Training, my brother, friend-," I stopped myself short. Leo was my closest friend, yet I had the nerve to say I was busy with others besides him. His face looked hurt and my heart sunk. Great going Liz.

"Oh. . ." Was all he said.

We both sat in silence, the waves the only noise, but they sounded so far away. I stared at my shoes, digging them deep into the sand. The atmosphere was thick, I swear I could feel its weight on my shoulders.

"So," I started not wanting to keep hearing nothing. "How are you and. . .Calypso?" Just saying her name gave me a sour taste in my mouth.

Leo's whole face seemed to light up, a wide grin spreading across his lips. I wanted to be the one to make him do that. "We're great! She's just the absolute best. Calypso gives me tons of affection that I've never gotten before, I'm so lucky."

He kept going, and going, and going. My heart braking with each word Leo spoke. The cracks widening and more pieces braking off. As he talked, an unknown spark of anger started to build. It was small, almost undetected, but it started to grow at a rapid pace. Like a raging fire burning inside of me. My hands curled into tight fists, my teeth clenched and my body started to tremble.

"Yeah I honestly think that I'm in love with her and she's in love with me-,"

"-GODS WHY CAN'T YOU GET IT THROUGH YOUR THICK HEAD THAT I'M THE ONE IN LOVE WITH YOU ASSHOLE?! NOT HER! ME!" I had snapped.

Anger blazed in my eyes as Leo sat in the sand in complete shock. I was on my feet, my chest rising and falling at a rapid pace. Tears fell down my cheeks and I wiped them away furiously, damn it I was crying. I turned away from him sniffling, then felt two strong arms wrap around my waist, pulling me to their hard chest. I stiffened at first then their warm breath was on the back of my neck, helping me relax.

Leo turned me around in his arms, staring down at me with those warm brown eyes and soon his lips were on top of mine. I melted in his embrace kissing back, my eyes squeezing shut as he held me tenderly. Leo's lips were so smooth and soft and warm, it sent shocks down my spine and my heart racing. Goosebumps spread across my skin, a shudder rocking my body. I was lost in Leo's kiss, in his gentle touch and smooth sweet passion. My mind couldn't even comprehend what was happening, it was like I was in a dreamlike state.

Just as I started to realize what we were doing, Leo pulled away, his lips just centimeters from mine and I opened my eyes, cheeks bright red and breath a little ragged.

"Liz, I honestly do love you, but I can't leave Calypso. A promise is a promise, and I intend to keep it. I'm sorry." And he walked away, leaving me standing in place completely and utterly confused.

Did he just seriously do that to me? He did, for watching his figure get smaller and smaller as he walked further away was all the proof I needed. Leo wanted me, but Calypso was his priority. I wasn't good enough, a promise meant more than myself.
