"HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!" You screamed to your cabin mates. They all laughed at your enthusiasm as you jumped up and down on your bed in an American flag tank top, jean shorts that had faded stars and stripes on them, stars and stripes flip flops and a silver star clip in your hair.

You loved Fourth of July, you were a proud American. All about land of the free and home of the brave. Plus you loved fireworks.

"(Y/n) you're insane," your brother Cody laughed shaking his head.

"I'm not insane! I just love America! MURICA!" You threw your hands up in the air and jumped from your bed making him laugh even more.

"Nope. Insane." Emily giggled, her blonde pigtails bouncing. You grinned and as you passed ruffled her hair then ran outside.

"Happy Fourth of July, Happy Fourth of July, Happy Fourth of July," you said to people who walked by you. They would smile in return and laugh as you would cartwheel across the grass.

Just as you came up from your cartwheel you ran into a body and you both fell to the ground. The person laughed and you looked up to see you had landed on Leo, he grinned cheekily at you.

"Hey (y/n). I can see that you're excited about Fourth of July."

You grinned then helped him up. "Of course I am! All of my cabin mates say that the fireworks show at Camp Half Blood is the best. I've never seen it before so I'm really looking forward to it."

A huge smile spread across Leo's face and he hooked his thumbs through his belt loops. "Well, lucky for you I happen to be running the fireworks show this year. And since you've never seen it, I personally promise to make it the best one yet."

"Seriously?!" You gasped.

"Seriously,"

"Leo you're absolutely the best!" You threw your arms around his neck and hugged him, he laughed and hugged you back then pulled away.

"I gotta go. Harley keeps trying to sneak illegal fireworks into the show and I do not need to be arrested again. I'll see you later though, bye."

"Bye,"

He smirked at you then disappeared into the Hephaestus cabin. You smiled then headed back to your own cabin to get ready for tonight.

~2 Hours Later~

You and Hazel were down by the beach just as the sun set playing with sparklers. She spun around with one in each hand, the beautiful white sparks dancing around her. You laughed then wrote your name in the air watching as it slowly disappeared.

"This is so fun! These things are so cool." Hazel smiled waving the sparklers around.

"Definitely," you ran down the beach with her until the mini fireworks went out leaving you both with burned sticks. She pouted then reached into her jeans pocket.

"Oh! I forgot to give this to you." She handed you a folded up piece of paper and you took it to discover it was a note to you.

Dear (y/n),

Meet me on top of the hill by the beach at 9:30. It's gonna have the best view of the fireworks, plus it's not gonna be crowded. See you there.

~ Leo

You smiled and thanked Hazel then ran to the hill since it was 9:25. As you reached the top he was already there, sitting on a blanket with bags of candy and soda spread out in front of him. Leo grinned at you as you approached and stood up taking your hand.

"Glad you could make it,"

You blushed and nodded. "Wouldn't miss it for the world."

He smiled then you both sat on the blanket and watched as campers filed onto the beach waiting for the show to start. Leo handed you a Pepsi and you took it gratefully thanking him popping the can open. He did the same with his own soda then chugged it down popping Skittles into his mouth.

"So how big is the show gonna be?" You asked watching the sky.

"Huge. We set up at least a thousand pounds of fireworks, not including the grand finale. It's gonna be epic." Leo seemed extremely proud and you smiled.

"So when does it start?" You could barely contain your excitement and he grinned taking out a remote from his tool belt.

"Right...about...now," he pressed the button and almost immediately red, white, and blue fireworks shot into the air exploding against the sky.

Your mouth dropped open as the fireworks made beautiful images for each cabin. A lyre for Apollo, a boars head and spear for Ares, flowers for Demeter, grapes for Dionysus, an owl for Athena, skulls and gems for Hades, a triton and-was that Nemo?- for Poseidon. Even the symbol for your cabin.

"Leo, this is amazing." You breathed. He smiled and moved closer to you, his arm hesitantly wrapping around your shoulders.

"You like it?"

You turned to look at him. "Like it? I love it, it's absolutely incredible!" You smiled. He smiled back at you and pulled you closer.

The show lasted for over two hours and never got boring, the grand finale was spectacular. Every kind of fireworks imaginable was set off at the exact same time and earned many cheers from the campers. You smiled and snuggled into Leo's side, the colors lighting the sky dancing in your eyes. Leo held you close and sighed happily setting his head on top of yours, you smiled and wrapped your arms around his waist.

Best. Fourth of July. Ever.
