I set my palm against the window of my cabin, ice instantly feathering the glass and I quickly retracted my hand like I had been burned. Why couldn't I ever keep it under control? Moving away from the window I sat on my frost covered bed, a light snowfall fluttering from the ceiling, yet it was the dead of summer.

You see, my name is Diane, and I'm a daughter of Khione. Rare, I know, you don't have to tell me. Why she ever had a daughter was beyond me, now I was cursed with her "gift" of ice and snow. Every thing I touched got covered with frozen crystals, no matter what it was. My blankets were stiff and cold, my clothes covered in frost, hair ice tipped, skin pale and cold to the touch. When I first arrived at camp, my powers grew out of control, I accidentally froze over the lake, a snow storm blew across the strawberry fields wilting them, so soon people avoided me like I was the plague.

Seeing the damage I caused I quickly retreated to my cabin, locking myself inside so I didn't cause any more harm. The last thing I wanted was to hurt someone, especially the boy I had a major crush on. After a few weeks of training, I met a cheeky Latino named Leo Valdez. He was bubbly, warm, fun, and he absolutely stole my heart. After the snow storm incident I took it upon myself to keep away from Leo. Sure he was fire, and I was ice, but sometimes ice could be so cold that fire couldn't spark.

Sighing I got up from my bed to take a shower. I took out an orange camp shirt and set it on my bed along with a pair of jeans. Walking to the bathroom I started the water, turning it to broiling hot since that was the only time it wouldn't freeze while I was in the shower. The room enveloped with steam as I removed my clothes and stepped under the water, the frost along my body melting away as the droplets hit my skin and sizzled. I thoroughly washed my hair and body, taking my sweet time. I never had to worry about cold water, it didn't even faze me.

Once finished with my shower I stepped out and wrapped a towel around myself, walking out into my cabin to change. As I picked up my shirt, about to drop the towel, my cabin door burst open and Leo ran inside shutting the door firmly locking it. I squeaked and held the shirt against my body, tightly keeping the towel closed as a bright red blush spread across my cheeks.

"LEO WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!" I shouted as he breathed heavily with his forehead against the door.

"Sorry, I released a mechanical spider in the Athena cabin as a prank. Big mistake. Now the whole cabin is after me." He peeked outside and I could make out from under the ice on the window tons of kids running by with swords and daggers and other various weapons.

"Well you could have at least knocked." I sighed.

"My bad I had to hide quickly or-," Leo finally turned and froze, eyes widening as he looked me up and down, his face turning bright red.

Crossing my legs and hugging the shirt and towel to me I glared sharply at him. "D-Don't look idiot!"

"S-Sorry!" Leo slapped a hand over his eyes to cover them and turned on his heel so as not to face me.

I quickly gathered my clothes and ran into the bathroom to change. Once clothed, I walked out to find him in the exact same spot, pointed ears a flaming red and I chuckled a little at how cute he was.

"You can look now," I assured.

He turned to me and peeked through his fingers, then when seeing I was dressed dropped his hand setting both of them in his jeans pockets.

"S-Sorry for barging in like that, I didn't know you were getting dressed." He flushed and I smiled a little.

"It's fine, I wouldn't want you killed by the Athena kids."

Leo grinned cheekily at me. "Thanks. So this is your cabin, huh?" He asked looking around and I nodded. "Niiiice. Does it snow here all the time?"

"Only when I'm in here," I replied sitting on my bed. Leo sat next to me and hugged himself, shivering a little. Guilt washed over me as I watched his teeth chatter and body shake from the cold. "You should go Leo, it's almost dark and at night it gets below zero in here."

"N-Nah. I-I'm good, plus I-I haven't s-seen you in w-weeks. Wh-What's been up?"

I sighed and laid back, staring up at the snow falling ceiling. "Nothing really, I've just locked myself in here so I don't hurt anybody."

His brown eyes found mine and a cute little frown tugged at his lips. "Wh-Why would you h-hurt someone?"

"I don't mean to," I mumbled. "My powers are just uncontrollable. I've tried to hold them back but it seems the harder I try the more they retaliate. I haven't hurt anyone yet thank gods but. . .it could happen."

"Sounds to me like it's your fear taking over,"

I looked up at him to see Leo staring down at me, his features held concern but also a look like 'I know where you're coming from'. I sat up and stared at my feet, biting my lip hard.

"I can't help but be scared, what if I harm someone or you?" I worried.

"You could never hurt me," Leo moved closer to me, his warm hand setting on my knee and I jumped a little blushing.

"Y-You don't know that."

"Of course I do. Do you know how?"

"N-No."

"Because I can do this," his face neared mine and his warm lips pressed against my own, my eyes widening at his actions.

Leo was. . .kissing me. I instantly melted into his embrace and wrapped my arms around his neck, his lips were searing hot but felt so good against my freezing ones. Every part of me felt like I had turned into a puddle, I was flush against Leo's body as his hands set on my waist. Once he pulled away my eyes opened to see he was staring and grinning at me, his eyes warm and smile bright.

"See, you didn't hurt me at all." He concluded and I laughed a little looking at my room. All the ice and snow had. . .melted. My cabin was bare and all because Leo had kissed me.

"Wow," I said and he laughed.

"Looks like you got control of your powers."

"More like you did. Now you can't leave my side." I grinned and he smirked back.

"I wouldn't dream of it."
