Ch.12 Moonstone

Now in the Tulgey Woods, Alistair and Darling continued searching for the Caterpillar.

"Look" Darling pointed up to a trail of smoke.

"We're getting closer" Alistair said as they followed the smoke.

Soon they came upon the Caterpillar who was sitting on a giant mushroom smoking his hookah. Alistair and Darling went up to him as he stopped smoking and looked at them.

"Who are you?" he asked as he blew smoke in their faces.

"It's me" Alistair coughed as he and Darling brushed the smoke away "Alistair Wonderland".

"Indeed you are" Caterpillar said as he smoked his hookah.

"Caterpillar" Alistair said "We need your help, we're looking for this girl this Kate, she brought me here to Wonderland but we got separated, do you know her?"

"Surprisingly, no, I've never heard anyone name Kate here?"

"Oh" Alistair said sadly "Well could you at least help us with this?"

He explained about Storybrooke and how he was brought to Wonderland and that he needed to find Kate so she could help him find his mother and hopefully his friends. He also explained about finding a way to Storybrooke so Darling could see her brothers again.

"Hmm" Caterpillar said as he started thinking "I can't help you on finding Kate, but I do know that Alice is alive and in Wonderland".

"How do you know that?" Darling asked.

"I can feel it".

"Well do you know where she is?" Alistair asked.

"Sadly no, but I may have something that can help you find her, hold out your hand".

Alistair held out his hand as the Caterpillar blew smoke onto his hand. After the smoke cleared away, there on Alistair's hand was a necklace with a blue stone pendent.

"What is this?" he asked.

"A moonstone" Caterpillar said "One of the rarest stones in Wonderland. Now this moonstone will glow when you get close to your mother, and the closer you are to her, the brighter it gets".

"Well, thank you Caterpillar" Alistair smiled.

"By the way" Caterpillar added "There's a lot of danger here, so if I were you, I'd get a weapon".

"Where am I gonna get a weapon?"

"The Tumtum tree is where you'll find the Vorpal Sword thrust into the trunk".

"The Vorpal Sword" Alistair gave a small gasped "But wait, I've never used a sword before".

"Don't worry" Darling said "I can teach you".

"But what about my friends?" Alistair asked the Caterpillar "Will I ever see them again?"

"Oh don't worry" Caterpillar assured "You will find them".

"Um, Caterpillar" Darling said "Is there a way we can get to Storybrooke so I can see my brothers?"

"Now that you'll have to find on your own, but it should be easy, trust me".

Alistair and Darling looked at each other with confused looks.

"Now for if you go, you shall find your mother".

"Thank you so much Caterpillar" Alistair said.

"Good luck" Caterpillar said as he blew smoke around him as they coughed.

After the smoke went away, Caterpillar was gone.

(10 years ago) It was the morning when Alice would set off on her journey, and everyone gathered to bid her farewell.

"You promise you'll be back in 3 days?" little Alistair asked.

"I promise" Alice smiled "Oh wait, I almost forgot".

She reached into her apron pocket and pulled out a golden compass.

"Alistair" she said as she knelled on the grass  "This compass was given to me by my father when, and I've used it in all of my adventures. And now I want you to have it".

"Really?" Alistair gasped.

"Yes, and now you can use it on your adventures, this compass will take you to amazing discoveries, use it to discover the undiscovered".

Alistair took the compass and examined the design on the back and the arrow that's pointing north.

"Well" Alice sighed "I must go now".

"Aww" the kids pouted.

"I'll be back remember? Now how about a goodbye hug?"

The kids smiled as they all hugged Alice. After the hug Alice turned to Alistair.

"Now while I'm gone" she said to him "You be a good boy ok?"

"I will" he promised with a smile.

"I love you" Alice smiled.

"I love you too" he smiled as Alice gave him a kiss on the forehead and then a hug.

"All right" Alice said after the hug as she stood up "It's time for me to go".

She then looked at her friends with a worried look.

"Don't worry" Hatter assured "We'll look after him".

"Thank you" Alice smiled "Well I'll be going now".

"Good luck" Cat smiled.

"And be careful" the White Rabbit whispered with a scared look.

Everyone bid Alice goodbye as she set off on her journey. As she went away, she looked at her backpack and saw a key chain of the Jabberwock's tooth. She remembered when she knocked out the Jabberwock's tooth years ago and now it hangs on her backpack as her good luck charm. And hopefully she'll have good luck on this journey.

Meanwhile, Alistair and his friends were looking at the compass.

"So how does it work?" little Kitty asked.

"I think you move it and it tells you where north is" Alistair said as he moved the compass around until the arrow pointed north "Aha, let's see what's north".

So they went up north until they came upon a little pond.

"This is it?" little Lizzie asked confused.

"Well, maybe there's something here" Alistair said.

"Hey look!" little Maddie picked up a coin "I found a quarter!"

"I found a rhinestone!" little Bunny picked up a green rhinestone.

Alistair, Lizzie, and Kitty smiled as they started to search around the pond finding little treasures.

"This is great!" Kitty exclaimed as she held up some more coins.

"Look at all of these treasure we've found!" Bunny exclaimed as she held some little treasures.

"Alice is right" Maddie said "This compass does lead to amazing discoveries".

Alistair looked at his compass, he couldn't wait to use it on more adventures and finding amazing discoveries.
