Ch.14 Vorpal Sword

Alistair looked at the moonstone pendant that hung around his neck. Caterpillar said that it would glow when he's close to his mom, and so far, it wasn't glowing.

"Alistair look" Darling pointed ahead "There it is, the Tumtum tree".

The Tumtum tree stood in the middle of a meadow. It had a grey trunk, black stripes on the bark, different colored leaves, and yellow and blue flowers on the stems. And there thrust into the tree was the Vorpal Sword.

"There's the sword" Alistair said as they went to the tree.

"Can you pull it out?" Darling asked.

Alistair wrapped his hands around the handle and pulled on it, and soon the sword was pulled out from the tree.

"Whoa!" Darling gasped at the glowing blue sword.

After the glow faded away, Alistair ran his finger across the blade and admired the designs.

"You know my mom used this sword when she was about my age when she battled the Jabberwock" he said.

"Oh I heard about that" Darling said "It's amazing how she survived with only a few scratches".

"Yeah" he agreed "Although she didn't manage to kill it, she was able to scare it away and it was never heard from since".

"So the Jabberwock is still alive?"

"Apparently yes, I don't know what's it doing now, but I have a feeling that it'll be back one day".

"Well in that case, you need to be prepared. So you don't know how to use a sword?"

"Not really, I mean, I've seen people sword fight before and I watch their moves, but I never got a chance to try it".

"Well now you will get a chance. Do you wanna try it with me?"

"Uh" he said nervously.

He knew that Darling was a great sword fighter, and he didn't want to get hurt, especially by a girl.

"No thanks" he said.

"How come?" she asked "Is it because you're scared you'll get hurt by a girl?"

"Yeah" he confessed.

"Well I wont hurt you, it's just a practice" she said as she pulled out her sword "Come on, give it a shot".

"Fine" he sighed as they got in their positions.

"Ready?" she asked.

"I guess" he said nervously.

"All righty then" she said as she started to fight him.

Alistair tried the best he could to block her strikes, but then she used her sword to knocked his sword into the air and caught it with her other hand.

"I kinda saw that coming" he said.

"Let's try that again" Darling said as she gave him back the sword.

They got into their positions and they started to fight again. But Darling was still better than Alistair as she knocked the sword out of his hand again.

"You really need a better grip of your sword" she said as she picked up the sword and gave it back to him.

"I know" he sighed as he took the sword.

"We'll practice some more later" Darling said as she put her sword away "Let's just get back to finding your mother and possibly Kate".

As they started walking, they didn't notice a red knight on his horse watching them from behind some trees as he then galloped away.

(Flashback) In her house, Bunny sat on the couch and and ate a carrot as she let her mind run through her head. Soon a certain thought popped up in her head.

"Dad" she said.

"Yes?" the White Rabbit said as he read the newspaper.

"Do you know if the Well of Wonder can grant wishes?"

"Wishes? Well, I don't know about that, I never tried making a wish on the well. But you can try it if you want".

"And that's what I'm gonna do" Bunny said as she tossed her carrot top in a trash and grabbed a coin from a table.

She then grabbed a backpack and slipped it on.

"Be careful not to fall down the well" her father warned.

"I know" she said as she went out of her house.

Now outside, Bunny poofed into her rabbit form and hopped away.

Bunny hopped across a meadow until she reached the Well of Wonder. Usually the well would have some Wonderland water flowing to the top, but ever since the Evil Queen's curse on Ever After, there hasn't been any water in the well. And because of the curse, it again blocked the portal between Wonderland and Ever After. Bunny hopped to the well and poofed back into her human form. She stood near the well and looked down only seeing a dark hole. She gave a sigh as she reached into her vest pocket and pulled out a coin.

"I wish that I will see my friends again" she said "Whether I'll find them or they'll find me, I just want my friends back".

And with that she tossed the coin down the well. She gave a sad sign as she rested her arms on the well. Ever since the Evil Queen's curse on Ever After, Bunny has been very lonely and depressed since her friends were at Ever After when the curse happened. The curse had taken her friends away, and she's afraid she'll never see them again. She then started to think about Alistair, she's been crushing on him since the beginning, and she was never able to tell him how she felt, and now she may never will. She looked at the backpack and saw the compass that hung on a strap, Alistair had left his compass and his backpack behind when he went to Ever After to help their friends prevent the curse, but it was too late when the curse happen and they all disappeared. The backpack and the compass was all Bunny had left of him, but the compass was the most important item. She remembered the adventures she and her friends had, and now that they're gone, she didn't know what to do anymore.

All of a sudden, she felt something hit the back of her head which caused her to topple forward and she fell down the well.
