Ch.36 Destiny doubts

(Flashback) The Queen of Hearts castle stood in front of the evening sun as Lizzie Hearts was reading the book 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland'. She figured she'd read it to learn more about her destiny, on how she'll be like as the next Queen of Hearts. But as she was reading about the part where Alice meets the queen, she felt that her mother was a bit harsh on Alice. And this got her thinking about her destiny, meaning that she will become enemies with Alistair, Alice's son. But Alistair was one of her best friends, and she didn't want destiny to ruin their friendship.

Just then there was a knock at the door.

"Come in" she said as Alistair entered.

"Hey" he smiled.

"Hey" she smiled back "What are you doing here?"

"Well I got bored so I decided to see you and see what's up, what are you reading?"

"Oh, our story" she showed him the book.

"Oh" he said as he sat next to her on the edge of her bed.

"You're mother was really cute when she was 7" she commented.

"Yeah, and her adventures sound really fun".

"So you're really looking forward to following her footsteps?"

"Yeah, what about you?"

"Oh... I don't know" she said with a nervous look.

"What's wrong?"

"It's just, even though I would love to become the next Queen of Hearts, I feel like I wanna change some things up a bit, like be a kinder queen, and not always having to shout people's heads off, all that shouting hurts my throat".

"Then why do you still do it?"

"Because I'm so used to it. Also..." she said nervously.

"Also what?"

"If I do follow my destiny like the way my mother did, then that means you and I are gonna become, enemies".

"Lizzie, I know that our mothers didn't always see eye to eye before, but they did get along after a while so they didn't always stay enemies".

"Yeah but, I'm afraid that destiny will ruin our friendship, I mean, you're gonna be the next hero of Wonderland, while I'm gonna be the next loud obnoxious queen".

"Liz, I know this destiny thing is really hard and stressful, but that doesn't mean it should ruin our friendship. We'll always be friends no matter what".

Lizzie gave a small smile.

"Alistair" she said "Can I ask you something?"

"Sure".

"Do you think I'll ever find love? I mean, do you think guys will ever like me? Even if I tend to shout a lot and be bossy and all".

"You will find someone who will love you for you. I mean, you're kind, loyal, beautiful, I'm certain you'll find a guy who'll love you for who you are".

"You think I'm beautiful?"

"Of course" he smiled.

"Well, thank you" she blushed as he gave a small laugh.

"But trust me" he smiled "You will find love, even if it's not in your destiny, you will find a guy who'll be right for you".

Lizzie smiled as she rested her head on his shoulder. Alistair gave a smile as he laid his head against hers. Lizzie felt so lucky to have him as a friend, maybe even more than a friend.

The next morning, everyone had woken up and saw that the fire had been put out. They all got up and went back to where they saw Alistair's footprints, but to their surprise, the footprints were gone.

"They're gone!" Lizzie gasped.

"How are we gonna find Alistair now?" Bunny asked nervously.

"I think we just keep going straight" Darling said "I remember from last night the footprints just kept going straight, so in that case, we just go straight".

Everyone then started to go straight. And after a while they soon came upon the dark castle.

"Uh-" Maddie said nervously "Is this where we're suppose to go?"

"I don't know" Darling said under her breath.

"You think Alistair is in there?" Lizzie asked with a nervous look.

"Only one way to find out" Darling said as they went to the front door.

Darling slowly opened the door and peeked in.

"All clear" she said.

"Uh, can I just wait out here?" Lizzie asked.

"No" Kitty grabbed her hand as they all went inside as Darling closed the door.

"It's dark in here" Maddie whispered.

"I would use a light but I'm afraid it could cause attraction" Darling whispered.

"Just what exactly could be attract?" Kitty asked "This place looks abandoned".

"We don't know that for sure" Chase whispered "Everyone just stick together and we'll be fine, hopefully".

They then started to go down the dark and creepy hall.

"I've got a bad feeling about this" Bunny whispered with a nervous look.

In his cell, Alistair tried to find a way out, but no matter what he did he couldn't seem to find a way out. But just when he thought he was out of luck, he put his hands on his pockets and felt somethings in them. He reached in and pulled out the shrinking potion and a growing cookie, and this gave him an idea. He pulled the cork off the bottle and took a sip of the potion, and he soon felt himself shrinking to he was about 10 inches high. He was now small enough to fit through the bars and out of the cell, and after making sure no one was around, he ate the growing cookie and felt himself growing back to his regular height.

"I knew these would come in handy" he said to himself as he went to the entrance.

He slowly opened the door and made sure no one was in sight, he then stepped out into the hall and made a run for it.

Meanwhile, everyone had entered the empty throne room.

"Does a king or queen live here?" Kitty wondered.

"Uh, I don't think we're suppose to be in here" Maddie said nervously.

"I think Maddie's right" Lizzie agreed "Let's go".

"But what about Alistair?" Bunny asked "He could be in here".

But at that point, Alistair heard noises as he peeked from behind a wall and saw his friends in the throne room.

"Guys?!" he gasped in a whisper.

Everyone turned and saw him.

"Alistair?" they gasped in a whisper as he ran up to them.

"You're ok" Bunny gasped.

"Yeah I'm fine" he said.

"What happened?" Darling asked.

"I'll explain later, but we have to get out here now".

But just as they were about to leave, a voice stopped them.

"Hold it" it ordered.

Everyone turned around and saw the Jabberwock.
