Ch.19 The video

At nighttime, the girls continued walking with Maddie's flashlight guiding their way.

"Look!" Lizzie pointed ahead.

There stood the Tumtum tree with fireflies flying around it. The girls went over to it and saw that the Vorpal Sword was gone.

"The Vorpal Sword" Bunny gasped "It's gone".

"Alistair must of taken it" Maddie said.

"Well where did he go?" Kitty asked.

They started to look around for any clues to where Alistair would of gone, but they found nothing.

"So what do we do now?" Lizzie asked.

"I think we have to find a place to rest tonight" Bunny suggested "It's dark and bandersnatches are really active at this time".

"She's right" Kitty said "We gotta find a place stay".

"Well in that case" Maddie said "I think I know a place we can stay, come on".

Everyone followed Maddie through the darkness of Wonderland. Soon they came upon a little diner that rested on a hill.

"Hey isn't that-" Lizzie started.

"My dad's old tea shop?" Maddie finished "Yep".

They went up the hill and to the diner. Maddie pushed open the door making a screeching sound as they walked in. Maddie then turned on the lights revealing the inside. Kitty ran her fingers across a table picking up dust.

"Man this place is dusty" she said with disgust.

"So we're staying here tonight?" Lizzie asked.

"Yeah" Maddie said "Remember that little bedroom in the back where we all would hang out?"

"Yeah" they all said.

"We'll stay in there" Maddie said as she went to the back door and opened in.

They all stepped into a little room that had a bunk bed, beanbag cushions, a sofa chair, a couch, a bookshelf, a TV, and other bedroom items.

"Oh my gosh I remember this" Bunny said as they walked around.

"I miss this place" Kitty said as she plopped down on a beanbag cushion.

"Oh this brings back so many good memories" Lizzie smiled as she sat on the sofa chair.

"Hey check it out" Maddie picked up a video tape and read the label 'Alistair's 15th birthday'".

"Alistair's 15th birthday?" Kitty said "What was that about?"

"You guys wanna find out?" Maddie asked.

"Sure" they all said as Maddie started to set up the video.

Soon the video started to play as Maddie sat on a beanbag cushion and watched. The video started with the Queen of Hearts looking at herself in a mirror with the video camera in her hand.

"Oh my gosh" Lizzie said "My mom lost a lot of weight since then".

"Here they come" they heard someone whisper as the queen turned to camera to Lizzie who was pulling a blindfolded Alistair.

"Lizzie where are we going?" he asked.

"Hold on" she said as she pulled off the blindfold and yelled 'Surprise!'

"Whoa!" Alistair gasped with a smiled "You guys threw a surprise party for me?"

"Yep" Maddie smiled "Happy Birthday".

"Thanks, you guys are awesome" Alistair smiled as he hugged each of the girls.

But when he hugged Lizzie, she hugged him tight as the camera zoomed in on her as she closed her eyes and smiled as if she was holding a prize possession. But when she opened her eyes and saw the camera, her eyes widen as she pulled away with an embarrassed smile.

"Oh my God!" Kitty laughed at the video as she turned to Lizzie "What's wrong with you?! You totally didn't want to let go of him. It's like you liked him or something".

Lizzie hid her embarrassment as they continued watching the video.

"Hey Alistair" Courtly walked up to him "Happy Birthday" she held her arms out for a hug.

"Oh, thanks Courtly" Alistair said as they hugged.

After they hugged, Courtly gave a sneaky smile to the camera as she walked away. Alistair then turned around revealing a sign that said 'Kick Me' tapped to his back. Kitty pulled he sign off with a mad look as she gave Courtly a hard push. But Courtly just looked into the camera with a smile and walked away.

"Oh my gosh" Bunny gasped.

"I know" Kitty agreed "Good thing I pulled that sign off before anyone noticed".

"Ok" Alistair said to the camera "So far, this is a really great birthday".

He then spotted something in the corner.

"Oh my God is that cake?" he asked with interest as he went to the cake with the girls following him.

But then, the queen spotted Courtly hiding in the back.

"What are you doing?" she demanded as she walked up to the joker "Do not tell me you did something to that cake".

"Ok, I didn't do anything to the cake" Courtly said.

But the queen could tell she was hiding something.

"I swear that if you pull one of your little pranks again, you'll be cleaning the Men's room all week!" she yelled.

All of a sudden a 'Boom!' was heard, the camera turned to the cake that had exploded onto Alistair and the girls. Now covered in cake, everyone started laughing at them.

"Courtly!" Kitty yelled as she ran after her.

The camera turned back to the Wonderlandians who were so embarrassed that they all ran off. At that point the video ended.

"Oh my gosh" Lizzie gasped "I can't believe I forgot about that".

"I remember how embarrassing that was" Bunny said "And I think I got cake down my bra".

"And poor Alistair" Maddie said with a sad look "His birthday got ruined, all because of that bitchy Courtly".

"Why was there?" Kitty asked "I don't remember inviting her".

"Actually" Lizzie said remembering "I think we did".

"We did?" they all said.

"I think we invited her to entertain the people cause she's a joker and all, but it looks like she had some plans of her own" she frowned.

"And she has an even bigger plan now" Bunny put in "And we have to stop it before it gets worse".

"Well I'm gonna get some shut eye" Kitty yawned as she crawled on the bottom of the bunk bed.

"I guess I'll sleep on the top" Maddie said as she climbed to the top of the bunk bed.

As everyone got ready to sleep, Bunny looked at Alistair's compass. Seeing it reminded her of him, and more she saw it, the more she missed him.

"Bunny" Lizzie said "Aren't you gonna sleep?"

"I will" she said as she put the compass away.

She then poofed into her rabbit form and snuggled up on the beanbag chair and went to sleep.
