Once upon a time: Ever After High in Wonderland (Book 2)

Ch.18 Alice's story

Even though he hadn't told the story in a long time, he figured that Darling and Chase had to know.

"After my mom finished her story" he started "She went back to London where she told everyone about her Wonderland adventures, but apparently no one believed her and said that it was just a figment of her imagination, but she didn't mind and just went on with her life. But then this one day, when she was about my age, she was visiting Wonderland when she saw someone new, and when she got closer to see who it was, she was shocked to see that it was the Evil Queen. My mother couldn't believe it, but when the Queen went away, she didn't noticed that she had dropped something, my mom went to it and saw that it was a book about Wonderland. As she read it, she was shocked to discover that the Evil Queen had planned to take over Wonderland, but in order to do so, she had to get rid of my mother. My mom quickly told her Wonderland friends about it and they decided to hide the book in the Queen of Hearts castle while she went back to London. But when she told everyone in London about it, they didn't believe her and considered her mad. It was then decided that she would be treated for her madness, so she was put in an asylum where she was given treatments for her insanity."

"Oh my God" Darling gasped.

"I know. Anyway, she was eventually released 2 years later and was then forced to stay in her house. For years she stayed in London where she kept herself away from people and was forced to take medication cause everyone thought she was mentally ill. It caused her so much pain to be away from Wonderland, she was worried what the Evil Queen would do to Wonderland. But then this one day, she got a letter from the White Rabbit, the letter said that the Evil Queen was on her way to London to look for her, but at that time I was just born, and my mother knew that we weren't safe in London. But then she got an idea, she knew that the Queen never understood Wonderland's madness, so one night she snuck out with me without getting caught and we went to Wonderland. We hid in Wonderland long before it was cursed and changed our last names to 'Wonderland', cause since the Queen would be looking for Liddell's in the real world and Wonderlanders in Wonderland. And if the Queen did search for us in Wonderland, we would of blended in well. My mother was more accustomed to Wonderland than in London so she knew how to blend in, plus she had the help of her Wonderland friends to help keep us safe and hidden. So for a few years we were safe and hidden from the Evil Queen.

But when I was 6, my mother decided to look for a cure for the Wonderland curse before it happens so that if it does happen, she'll have a cure. So she asked her Wonderland friends to look after me as she set off on her journey. But then, 3 days passed and she didn't come back, we waited a couple more days and she still didn't come back. Both the Queen of Hearts and the White Queen sent some guards to look for her, but they couldn't find her. My mother never returned from her journey, she just mysteriously disappeared. And since then I've been researching, exploring, and solving riddles hoping to find an answer to her disappearance and where she could be, but I found nothing. And now that I know she's here in Wonderland, I will do whatever it takes to bring my mother's journey to an end and hopefully bring her home".

After Alistair finished his story, Darling and Chase had sad looks on their faces.

"Oh my gosh Alistair" Darling said sadly "I'm so sorry".

"It's ok" Alistair said with a sad look.

"You think your mother's disappearance had to do with the Evil Queen?" Chase asked.

"I don't know, maybe, but all I can do right now is continue looking until this moonstone glows".

"So your mother has been in asylum?" Darling asked.

"Yeah, and like me, she suffered from major depression and had nightmares every once in a while".

"What sort of nightmares did you have?" Chase asked.

"Well, if I could remember, one of them was about Wonderland being destroyed and there was fire everywhere and people were dying, including my friends".

"Oh my God!" Darling gasped.

"Yeah I remember I woke up crying and I didn't get any sleep. I still didn't get any good sleep in that asylum".

"So when you were in the asylum" Chase said "Did you get tortured or something?"

"Well I didn't get tortured badly, but I do remember that I got slapped by one of the workers on the face. And that was pretty much it".

"Yikes!" they both gasped.

"Yeah" Alistair sighed "I hated that place".

"Now what I wanna know is, who's your father?" Chase asked.

"Well I never knew my father, I always thought that he left my mother before I was born so I never got a chance to meet him".

"Have you wondered who he could be?" Darling asked.

"Sometimes, but I don't think he'll ever come back, and I'm actually fine with that".

"You sure?"

"Yeah".

"Well then, it's getting late, and we should get some rest" she suggested "We'll continued searching tomorrow".

"Hold on" Chase said as he turned to Alistair "So Wonderland isn't really your last name?"

"Well my full name is Alistair Leopold Liddell-Wonderland" Alistair said.

"Leopold?" Darling and Chase laughed.

"Oh shut up" Alistair frowned.
