"Great. Just great." I pulled to the side of the road and turned off my engine.
I was one fuckin' block away from home!
Seriously!
I leaned over to the passenger side and opened up the dashboard pocket, rummaging through it for the car registration papers. I pulled the papers out and placed it on my lap, sitting tall in my seat.
Keep it together, Maisie.
You got this!
I reached into my purse and pulled out by ID just in time as the officer was approaching my car.
He knocked twice on my window and I rolled it down
"There you are, sir." I handed him my information then placed both hands securely on the steering wheel.
Several moments of silence passed and I just had to say something. "So what did you pull me over for?"
I couldn't get a good look at the officer, he kept his eyes down on the papers, "You were swerving on the road."
How am I suppose to flirt my way out of this?
"No, officer, I was not."
The officer raised his eyebrows speculatively then our gaze met. I knew him!
It's the mysterious guy from school the other day. The one who was waiting to 'meet with the principal.' "Hey it's you! Levi, hey, buddy." I have a really good feeling now. "You're an police officer."
"It's Officer Knight," He said pointing to his name tag. "Have you been drinking?"
"Course not, that would be reckless."
Officer Knight leaned into my window and smelt the air in the car. "Smells like you've been drinking recently."
"Me? Pfft! I laughed. "What are you an alcohol detecting dog now?"
"Step out of the car, Miss Brooks." He sighed through his nose, opening my car door.
"Your kidding."
"No, I'm not. Get out of the car."
I stepped out of my car and leaned against it. "I'm actually offended that you would think I would drink and drive, Levi. "
"It's Officer Knight," he chimed in.
