"If I'm not planting trees or entertaining the elderly, what am I supposed to do?"

"You will be doing your community service here at the station. "

"Ha, funny. No really, where will I be?" I thought my mother was playing with me. Hell, I hoped she was playing me.

My mom's eyebrows furrowed. You will report here every day after school and you will do whatever they ask you to do. Understand?"

"Umm, is there any way I could stick to gardening?"

"No," my mom answered abruptly. "You have no choice in this matter."

"Fine," I said hastily. I glanced over at Levi who stood there watching us with his hands in his pant pockets. "I'm not cleaning toilets, I'm putting that out there."

"Janitorial duties would be too easy. You'll handle the calls and do some paper work. I'll have you accompany me on some of my calls so you can see how easy it is to make bad decisions and what the consequences could mean."

"I don't do well with blood."

"Blood is unfortunately a part of the job but you'll get use to it.

I have a weakness and instead of him being understanding he just doesn't seem to care.

I didn't choose to be an officer.

I never signed up for the blood.

"I expect you here at 3:30 everyday after school, no excuses. Come late even one of the days and I'll make a call to the DA."

"May as well call the DA now then," I huffed.

First day of community service, I walked into the police station with a notepad in hand and a bag in the other.

The receptionist looked up and gave a nice smile. "Hello, how can I help you?"

"Hi, I don't know where I need to go but I'm suppose to start community service day."

"It's okay Melody, I'll help her." A voice called from behind me and I whirled around to see Levi standing there. He looked down at his wrist watch, "Just on time."

"Your welcome," I said smugly.

"Follow me, please." I followed him down the hall and into a small office. He put a stack of papers on the desk and looked up at me. "Sit."

Sure. I like to sit.

My favorite past time is sitting.
