"Finally she found her peace, her safe haven. After all the pain, drama and deceit, the chaos and disorder, there was rest. She felt the warmth and safety of his arms and how his hands held her as if he had known her all her life. She was home." – unknown

The plan was always to move back in with Levi, right? I'd finish my community service and we'd make it official. Why am I so scared now knowing that in 3 short weeks, it would be time?

Levi slammed the front door shut with much force when we arrived at his home.

I nearly jumped out of my own skin. It reminded me of when Mr. Pratt slammed the door shut, locking me in the bedroom for hours at a time. ---All I could do was listen and study the noises around me.

My discomfort was heightened as well by the dark that we walked into.

"Turn on the lights, please..." I asked quietly.

I don't like the dark anymore.

I've spent too much time in the black abiss,

You're never safe in the dark.

You never know whose lurking around you.

"Just...give me a minute," he said.

When the lights flickered on, I stared down at mess. Clothes were strewn across the floor. Unopened mail and newspapers were carelessly tossed onto the ground. The sink was undetectable, filled with plates and plenty of recyclable material. The kitchen table where I used to serve meals was draped by maps of the county. Piles of unfolded laundry disguised his couch and sofa chair.

Levi's place was unrecognizable. I've never seen his place like this.

"Holy shit," My mouth fell open. There was no nice way to put it.

"I haven't been home much." Levi placed his gun hostel on the coat hanger by the door.

I walked deeper into the living room, pushing things aside on the floor to make a path way.

It was that bad.

Levi stuffed his hands in his pockets, looking between me and the mess that is his home. "I'll clean it up by the time you move in. Promise."

"Okkkkay," I dragged on the word.

---Maybe we should rethink this whole 'moving' in. We could be jumping into things a little fast, you know? Maybe this is the universes subtle way of saying, "Hey Maisie, any idea who you might be moving in with?"
