Oh yea, I was in big trouble.

I deserved it.

I did this to myself.

I frowned, knowing I was about to receive the greatest lecture.

Another cop car pulled up, nearly running me over.

"Fuck!" My heart surged.

The officer immediately put his car in park and exited. He recognized me instantly. "Can't stay out of trouble can you, Maisie Brooks?"

"I guess not," I said uneasily.

He looked a little disappointed. "Officer Knight wants a word with you. I'll talk to your little friend."

Nervously, I walked over to his cruiser and pulled on the back door handle. It was locked.

I knocked twice on the back window then attempted to open the door again. It opened this time around.

I sat down in the backseat, and shut the car door behind me. I crossed my legs nervously and began to play with my trembling hands.

I glanced up and looked through the metal bars that acted as a barrier between us. He was scribbling on a paper attached to his clipboard.

I hate that clipboard.

That clipboard gave me a lot of anxiety.

Silence filled the air.

The radio buzzed on his shoulder, Levi and another officer exchanged some codes. Then I noticed him settle his pen down on his clipboard then glance in the rear-view mirror, catching my gaze.

"Are you mad?"

"No. I just can't understand why you continue to go back to him. He's not a good guy, Maisie."

"We were just talking."

"Right," Levi narrowed his eyes, "cuz you and Travis do a lot of talking."

"I sure think so. We have brain stimulating conversation." I still lied when I could have been honest with him. Lying seemed a lot easier at the time.

"Uh uh, so while you were in his car having 'brain stimulates conversation" I'm sure you noticed there was a stash of pot in the cup holder."

"No I didn't. I mean the last thing I was thinking of when I was in his car was searching for any sign of drugs," I mocked him, "It wasn't mine and that's all that matters."
