Levi has been consumed by my life chaos that I never asked him about his.

"Um I'm sorry to hear that." I said, One thing that Levi has done exceptionally well is make it easy for people to come to him, but when it comes to his issues, he doesn't share. "We don't talk about personal things like that so I wouldn't have known."

"Well I sure hope not. It is very inappropriate to discuss private matters with someone he's supposedly helping, "she said, emphasizing the word supposedly.

What does she think is happening?

Does she think we go out for drinks at bars?

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"You shouldn't have come here with my son," her eyes flashed and narrowed. "You two shouldn't be hanging outside the station together."

"Your son invited me, Mrs. Knight. I didn't ask to come here."

"Have you thought about what Levi's boss will think if he found out that you two were seeing each other?" she asked acidly. "He can't be affiliated with a known criminal."

"Hold up!" I heard enough. "We're not dating , lady. You've got it all wrong."

"I am no fool, Maisie Brooks," she gave me a look of disgust. "Stay away from my son! If you care for him at all you will pack up what little you have and move on."

She had no right to make me feel worthless.

I hated Levi for bringing me here.

I hated that Levi told her things.

I hated that he left me alone with her.

Before I could defend myself further, a voice bellowed in the air. "Ah, we have a guest?" A man I assumed would be Levi's father proceeded down the stairs. He had dark chocolate hair and brown eyes. He had a thick pair of black framed glasses and was wearing a grey suit.

Oh he definitely looks like the business man type.
