Alice ~

I had a date with a total stranger. But he seemed sweet and he was really cute. My cheeks were hot and red even though I was only thinking about him.

Harry.

Normally I was super shy and didn't talk to boys, and to give that small piece of paper to Harry took almost more courage than my body held.

When I came into my little brother's room at the hospital I sat down at his bed and took his hand. My little brother, Oliver, was diagnosed with leukemia. No one knew how long he was going to stay alive. Oliver was only seven years old, and he had so much energy and he really wanted to live. But you can't get everything you want..

When I looked around in the room I noticed that mom and dad weren't there.

"Oliver, where's mom and dad?" I asked and he opened his eyes.

"They are getting coffee."

He sounded so small, so weak. I forced myself not to cry, a decision I made when Oliver was diagnosed with the deciese. I didn't want to scare him by crying in front of him. He had to much fear in his life.

I looked at the clock. It had been 15 minutes since I spoke to Harry.

"Oliver, I have to go. I'm going to meet a boy."

Oliver smiled with closed eyes.

"Alice, do you have a date?"

"Yes, I guess I do." I smiled at him when he opened his eyes again.

"Good luck." he said and I kissed his forehead before I walked out the door.

"Thank you. I love you, Oliver."

"I love you too, Alice."

Two lives were taken that night.
