-Timeskip one week-
Jackie walked into the living room smiling as she watched her son laugh and make jokes with his new friend. It was nice to see Troye at the house everyday. It put Jackie's worries to rest knowing that Tyler wasn't alone all the time. She watched in delight as Tyler leaned in and pressed himself into Troye's side as the boys played Mario Kart in the dimly lit living room.
It was hard for her to see Tyler so sad, it's not like she didn't notice that he was acting this way but she had so many kids on her hands. Between Maddox and Macy being so young and dependent on her and Penelope and Allexys being at a young middle school age where they are always getting into trouble, and not to mention Connor and Codi who are a handful. Tyler is so well behaved, sometimes he slips thought the cracks. Not that she meant for it to happen it just...did.
But She watched as Troye brought the light back into Tyler's blue green eyes. She watched as he made healthier choices and she even saw him finishing full meals rather than throwing half way. She noticed ever once and a while that Tyler didn't eat all his dinner but to her it was a rare occurrence that she saw in-between feeding babies and packing lunches.
Christmas was was over a week ago and Troye has visited their home everyday. Jackie watched as all of Tyler's siblings took a liking to Troye, especially Allexys for some reason. Tyler seemed so at peace with this boy.
She smiled, maybe he was more than just a friend. She couldn't come to any conclusions but she had a mother's intuition and she could feel that something about his connection with Troye was different than his connection with his past friends. But then again Jackie couldn't be too sure, the last friend that Tyler brought home was at the beginning of his freshman year. He had two friends Beth and Korey. She recalled how one day Tyler came in crying about how Beth had moved away. When she tried to console him stating that they could keep in touch he just sobbed harder. Tyler told Jackie that he wasn't sad Beth was gone, but happy he was free.
Jackie didn't quite understand it at the time, but Tyler's other friend Korey still came around, before that stopped also. She recalled how Tyler stated that they "drifted apart" She felt bad, she knew that it was Todd's fault. Todd, her ex-husband, who yelled at Korey to not come with Tyler to 'his' weekends any more because "homosexuals were not allowed in his home" After that day Tyler pushed more and more of his friends away. That was the biggest sign for Jackie, after that she picked up a bit more about how Tyler may not be straight, and she was more than okay with that
She just wanted Tyler to be happy

"EAT SHIT TROYE SIVAN" Tyler yelled as he lapped Troye again in Mario Kart. Troye was horrible at the game and Tyler was still beating Troye game after game, even thought Tyler was basically playing one handing because of the way Troye was leaning against him. Troye placed the Wii controller on the ground next to his hip and Tyler smirked at him, knowing full well that Troye was finally admitting defeat.
"Wanna grab lunch" Troye said moving away from Tyler to stand up off the ground. Tyler huffed knowing that Troye's question only had one answer. Over the past week Troye has turned the once in a while 'you want a snack' into 'tyler you don't have a choice eat something'
"No" Tyler said plainly as he pressed play on the controller to start another race "I'm not hungry" he grumbled still looking intently at the television screen as the digital cars raced up the stairs of the Coconut Mall Course. Troye sighed, he hated forcing Tyler to do anything but he also knew that Tyler needed to eat something.
"Please, just come to the kitchen with me and we can see what you have" Troye said with a bit of pleading in his voice. Tyler didn't react he just kept his eyes trained on the screen moving the controls every so often. Troye rolled his eyes and sat back down next to Tyler.
Troye continued to look between the television and Tyler as the boy sat absent mindedly next to him playing the racing game. Troye reached around the back of his own neck to undo the clasp. He moved his hands behind Tyler's head and closed the latch allowing the chain and charm to sit around Tyler's neck.
Tyler let out a long breath he pushed the pause button on the game and pushed onto his knees to stand up before offering a hand out to Troye. "Lets go you fucking pain in my ass" Tyler said with a smile pulling Troye to a standing position
The boys relocated to the kitchen, eating and conversing as they each picked at the peanut butter and jelly sandwich that Troye made. Tyler nibbled the triangular snacks every so often. "Not only are you forcing me to do this but now you used chunky peanut butter" Tyler said dramatically before talking another small bite
"Because chunky peanut butter is better" Troye said bitting into his own piece of the sandwich even though he was not that hungry either. Tyler gave Troye a look of discust
"CHUNKY peanut butter is what they feed to animals, or people in jail" Tyler said exaggerating the work chunky. Troye laughed and Tyler smiled knowing that he was the one to make Troye smile so brightly
'you're beautiful' Tyler thought to him self briefly 'whoa where did that come from' he thought again
