Stand By You (Troyler AU)

Picnic

-a week later-

Jackie knocked on the bedroom door tapping quietly before opening the door. "Boys you keep snoozing the alarm but you need to get up now" she said. It was their last day of school, the last day she was going to have to force the lazy flops out of bed.

Jackie walked back down the stairs to finish breakfast. Everyone else was pretty much awake. 

She was getting a little worried about Tyler lately, he looked like he was getting awfully thin. He was acting a bit different too. She didn't want to accuse him of anything. She was just going to keep a better eye on him.

She cleaned the dishes slowly, dunking the dirty dishes into the water and wiping the mess away. Troye appeared in the kitchen, sliding a togo cup under the one-cup-coffee maker. He trotted to the fridge and pulled out the milk and went to the cabinet to grab sugar. He finished the first cup and put a second cup under the dispenser. Moving around her kitchen with ease.

"How did the lessons go" Jackie asked, his last one was a yesterday. The instructor said that he was doing quite well. Tyler was discouraged about it thought because this week Troye was with the instructor and at work and not really at the house much. Last night was the first night he'd slept over all week.

"Good. I'm glad they are over though" Troye said putting a lid on the second cup of coffee and beginning to walk out of the room

"Troye?" Jackie called. He turned around right away looking at Jackie curiously "Um how's Tyler doing, you haven't noticed anything have you?"Jackie asked

Troye furrowed his eyebrows "No why has he said something to you?"

"No no" Jackie rushed out "I was just wondering"

"Oh yeah well he has some down times but he is okay right now. At least he tells me so, I'll keep a close eye on him" Troye said

Jackie moved towards him wrapping him up in a tight hug "Thank you for being here for him" She said quietly "I don't think he would have made it through his year without you" Jackie said

"I needed him too" Troye said squeezing her back, listening as he heard the stairs creak

"Troyeboy did you make the coffee" Tyler called and Troye smiled "Yea Tilly" Troye called back

Tyler walked into the kitchen pecking Troye's cheek, grabbing a cup of coffee that Troye made for him. "Mom Troye and I are going to the park by the football field after school with a couple friends" Tyler said scowling at the coffee and going to add more sugar to the cup.

Troye stopped him and switched their coffee cups, Tyler tasted it happy with the perfect amount of milk and sugar. "Okay have fun boys" she said happily

Tyler pulled Troye out of the house, lacing their fingers together as they walked down the driveway to Tyler's car

After school Troye and Tyler picked up Connor and Korey, heading off the field where they were meeting Caspar, Joe, Hannah and Grace. Tyler had the music on loud hoping to make the care a little less awkward. He didn't really know what to say to Korey.

Troye could sense the uneasiness and grabbed Tyler's hand across the center console.

"Are you guys glad school is out of the summer?" Connor asked, he was done with his school work two weeks ago.

"Yeah" Troye said "I can't wait to sit around and do nothing"

Tyler laughed "You do that now"

"I do not" Troye said "I go to work and school and then do nothing"

Korey laughed "You two are nuts"

Tyler blushed and squeezed Troye's hand three times also rubbing his thumb across the back of Troye's hand. Korey was right, of course, Tyler and Troye were crazy but they it was a cute crazy. At least Tyler hoped they were.

The car pulled into the field parking lot and everyone climbed out. Joe, Caspar, Grace and Hannah were already sitting on a blanket. Tyler fixed the grey beanie onto his head and everyone hopped out of the car.

"Look who decided to show up" Grace called and Tyler rolled his eyes

"The queen is never late you are just early" Tyler joked back, taking a set on the blanket. Troye came and sat criss cross next to Tyler and opened up the cooler that Hannah and Grace brought filled with snacks and drinks.

"Watermelon or cheese with crackers Tilly?" Troye asked looking through the container.

"Um..." Tyler hesitated "Watermelon I guess"

Troye pulled out the tupperware container holding the crest fruit and moved back next to Tyler

"Thank for asked if I wanted any I feel so loved Troye" Korey said jokingly and everyone laughed as Connor moved to the cooler to get a snack

Connor pulled out an apple and some peanut butter "Hey where's mine!" Korey said

Connor giggled and pointed to the cooler "In there" he said making the group laugh again

"You guys got here so late that we ate already" Caspar commented picking up the frisbee that he brought "Let go play" He motioned to the open field and Hannah, Grace, and Connor went to go play.

Joe watched as Troye and Tyler interacted, smiling and giggling in their own little world as Troye munched on watermelon and handed pieces to Tyler every so often. In return Tyler would place small kisses on Troye's face.

"You guys are sickening" Joe said

Tyler turned to him "Don't be jealous"

Joe rolled his eyes, he was not jealous. He was happily in a relationship, just a private one. No everyone needed to know everything.

Joe stood up with the idea of joining the group of people playing frisbee, however another idea popped into his head half way through. He moved swiftly snatching the beanie off Tyler's head and standing a distance away from him.

"You didn't" Tyler said

Joe smirked waving the hat side to side "But I did Oakley"

"you'll regret it henny" Tyler said launching to grab the hat

Joe took off, running away with Tyler's beanie as Tyler chased after him not too far behind.

"Be careful" Troye called laughing. He moved his position to rest on his stomach

"You two are like a married couple" Korey said

"I hope you mean that in a nice way because I will beat you up Snorey" Troye said popping another piece of fruit in his mouth as he watched his idiot boyfriend run around the field like a crazy person.

"I do" Korey laughed now also watching the boys run about the field.

Things began to move in slow motion, Troye watched as Tyler just about reached Joe. Suddenly his body fell to the floor mid-motion

"TYLER" Troye screamed running to the far side of the field
