-few days later-
"Tro what color?" Allexys asked as she weeded through the nail polishes. The young boy yawned, his lack of sleep weighting in.
"Whatever color you like Lex" he said with a tired smile
Allexys stopped and turned to face him "Are you okay Troyeboy?" she asked
"I'm fine" He smiled at Allexys and she tilted her head not saying anything in response.
She was confused, Tyler told her that if Troye said that to hell him. He told her that it meant something different to Troye, so those words didn't mean fine. She wanted to listen to Tyler but why would Troye lie? Lying is bad, Mom always said not to lie.
"Hey Tro, are lies bad?" Allexys asked
Troye looked at her questionably "Yes and no, sometimes people lie to keep another person safe" Troye said
"Do you lie?" Allexys asked as she placed the light pink sparkly nail polish on the coffee table.
"Lex, I promise that everything is okay" Troye said smiling at her as be began to take the light yellow nail polish off.

Tyler picked up the random clothes that were laying all over the place. He decided that he needed to clean is room as Troye and Allexys did their weekly nail painting. They didn't get to do it last week because Allexys was a Todd's so her and Troye agree that it was 'long over due'
Tyler rolled his eyes, who knew he would have to share his boyfriend with his little sister.
He tossed the final 3 shirts into the hamper, two of which were Troye's, and put the basket by the door so that he could take it to the laundry room later. Tyler weeded through papers on the desk and began to file them away. Tyler suddenly picked up a blue notebook, one that he's seen Troye write in several times but never opened.
Tyler grabbed it and opened it up to a random page. Sprawled across the top of the page was the word 'Wild' with a date around spring break. Tyler looked down and quickly realized that it was a poem or lyrics. He skimmed the words and smiled, it was beautifully written. His eyes glanced around the page at the doodles that littered the edges. Small hearts and flowers, it was very cute, very Troye.
He flipped a page and saw their song Heaven written on the page...so these were songs. He flipped the next page, the word 'Blue' was written there. It was dated March 22, his birthday.
He skimmed over the words getting his eyes catching on certain phrases. Reading the words quickly 'I want you to color me blue, anything it takes to make you stay' Tyler looked it over thinking about what the word could mean. It seemed to him that blue represented sadness. Whoever this song was about, Troye was willing to share the sadness with, to preserve the relationship even thought it could be painful.
I was almost like when Troye saw this person's sadness he also saw his own insecurities and it increased his empathy. He still want and needs the person regardless of their flaws.
Tyler read more and frowned as he read on 'I know you're seeing black and white/ so I'll paint you a clear blue sky' Tyler didn't like how sad this song was. Here Troye understands that his lover is sad and only sees the world as a bad place. Troye knows that this person is stuck in a world void of color, only seeing the dark side of things. Troye wants to help the person see past the dark horizons.
Tyler knew, everything clicked all at once that the song was about him. That he made Troye hurt and worry more than he should have. They were supposed to be hopelessly in love but it didn't feel like that. It didn't feel like a swelling love that consumed all of his heart. He'd read fan fiction, he'd seen the movies, he'd read the books...why wasn't his love like that love. Why didn't the problems go away.
He wanted to be happy, and his love with Troye was happy in someways but heart breakingly sad in other ways. Troye didn't trust him enough to leave him alone through a meal time, because given the chance he wouldn't eat it at all. And he didn't trust Troye with is words of 'I'm okay' and 'I'm fine' because most of the time the opposite was true.
Maybe they were too broken to make it work. Maybe they were a bullet hole and their love was a bandaid. Maybe life sucks and its not always worth it.
Suddenly Troye puttered up the stairs and Tyler returned the notebook to its original spot. Troye came behind him and wrapped his arms around his waist, pulling their bodies flush together. Troye smiled and peppered kisses along Tyler's face. "I love you" Troye whispered into the boy's ear
And yes, maybe they were broken and maybe they were messy, but they had love. Maybe things weren't so bad and maybe Tyler was just being dramatic. And maybe, just maybe, life wasn't so bad when you share it with someone else.

Jackie smiled as the boys sat at the island in the kitchen talking about filming a video of some kind. She loved listening to their banter, filled with witty comments and inappropriate remarks, but also fill with a kind undertone. She tuned back into their conversation at the mention of a birthday.
"So what are we going to do for your birthday Troyeboy" Tyler asked, Troye shrugged and pushed he bowl of yogurt and fruit towards Tyler. Tyler scooped some up and ate it.
"I'm sure we can think of something" Tyler said smiling and pushing the dish back to the younger boy. Troye shrugged again "I did really celebrate my birthday the last couple of years. I was a little ball of anxiety hiding in the closet" Troye said "what were you thinking Tilly" The younger boy asked
"Can we get dinner? I've never taken you on a proper date" Tyler said
Jackie let the conversation dwindle in the back of her mind, not listening in so that the boys could have their privacy. Jackie wanted to get Troye something special for his birthday, its the least she could do. She didn't really have any ideas but she was sure that Tyler would have plenty of ideas so share.
