You, dear one,
are someone I thought I'd never find.
You, dear one,
see beauty where I do not.
How wonderful that must be.
Please, teach me.
You, dear one,
have the purest of souls--
I pray you never lose it.
You, dear one,
have the gift of laughter and smiles,
something this world desperately needs (as do I).
You, dear one,
are so warm--
always stay close to me.
You, dear one,
have the gentlest hands.
Your touch makes me feel safe.
You, dear one,
do not mock my strange habits, nor my flaws.
I cannot thank you enough.
You, dear one,
are oh so patient,
perhaps more than I deserve.
You, dear one,
have listened like no one else would.
I bore my dark soul to you, and you did not run away.
You, dear one,
deserve far better than I,
and yet with me you stay.
Why?
You, dear one,
are someone I know I can truly trust--
how I do not know--
perhaps our souls have met before?
You, dear one,
feel so familiar to me,
our touch almost like routine--
so secure and comforting.
You, dear one,
are more precious to me than I can describe.
Thank you for coming into my life.
