Time - Inescapable Evil

How cruel time is--

it slows when you need to move fast,

and speeds up when you wish to slow down.

It wears your body down,

bringing you pain and illness.

It takes those you love away from you,

sometimes, perhaps, sooner than you'd like.

You claim this to be unfair, but there are no rules regarding time, you see,

except that you can't get it back.

We are bound by the numbers on a clock,

by the rising and setting sun--

prisoners of something that isn't technically real.

Time is but a concept

and yet, we are completely controlled by it,

always needing to be somewhere or do something--

all this dictated by a certain position on a clock.

No one can escape this.

How do we not think it evil?

Does no one stop to realize how foolish it seems?

Why do we classify our time as "valuable" when there's nothing truly earned?

Yet there is nothing we can do to alter this sad reality,

no amount of discussion or enlightenment will change anything.

So, what is there to do, you ask?

Embrace the reality that you are bound by time--

that you can't change it--

and that's perfectly ok.

Use your time, my darling, however you see fit.

Spend your time your  way,

and enjoy it while it lasts

because everything is temporary.
