Kirstin didn't bring up Mitch for quite awhile. She spent a good two to three weeks with her best friend, getting him adjusted to life in the fast lane. She sought out as many photos as Scott could find, reenacting them and loving his every reaction, especially when he woke up and reminded her about what had happened the previous day. His memory was in full swing and everything he did he cherished, and so did she. Scott even reserved some nights for Kirstin to spend time with her boyfriend, Jeremy, whom he'd grown to know in the weeks prior to Scott's memory restoration. He absolutely adored him for her, calling him the Eugene Fitzherbert to her Rapunzel.
Quite frankly, if she were being honest, she didn't mention Mitch again for awhile for blatant selfish reasons. She hadn't had her best friend in full force for over four years unless it were summertime. She'd taken a bit of time off work so she could help him back on his feet, but she was back to school from eight to five every day and would claim as much after school or weekend time with him as she could. They spent many a night catching up on things that happened, such as finding out that she worked at a completely new school than the one she started at. While she was at school Scott found himself going up to RCA and actually getting a chance to record music, or finding himself walking around Los Angeles and exploring the new buildings and new restaurants that popped up in his mental absence. And, honestly, every day he grew curious about the unknown... i.e., the boy from the hospital and the mysterious photograph. He asked Kirstin as many times as he felt appropriate, "So, when you gonna tell me?" Her response, every single time, was soon. He got sick and tired of that word, but he respected that she wanted him to herself for awhile. It only took him less than a minute to realize she had truly missed him when she could hardly let him go once she first spoke to him after he woke up from his unconscious state.
He got to enjoy some of her favorite moments, such as Christmas (in March, of course!) with the Maldonado family, or going to see Wicked and still retaining the memories after a good night's sleep. No longer did Scott have to worry about having his slate wiped clean while he slept. Sleeping was a pleasure more than something he dreaded. She even took him on a little hot air balloon date. That was the most fascinating moment for him, if he were being honest. "I felt so small in such a big world. When I first realized for the last time that I was on memory reset, I felt like I was so big and time stopped because I couldn't move. Now that I'm smaller, I can finally see everything, and being up in the sky, completely weightless, confirms it. Now I can remember and life can pass me by."
While Scott was living life in the fast and memorable lane, Mitch was still stuck in confusion. He still had a bit of time to completely confirm his move to Nashville. He found an apartment that was perfect for him and Wyatt, and had discovered the many attributes of his anticipated home, namely Claudia and Luke from Luke's Diner. The coffee took some getting used to, but anything seemed natural and at home when you grew attached to the people there. He'd grown to appreciate the lack of a local Starbucks, but Luke did his best to accommodate Mitch's needs. Mitch returned to Los Angeles and finished out his own diner career, leaving him with a week to truly decide. In fact, he was just sitting around, kind of waiting for something to happen. He knew that nothing would happen. It would've happened by now, and Kirstin wasn't prying into Scott's relationship life to alter how he felt. But Mitch had no idea that Scott asked about him quite often. She'd never thought to mention it, and it was extremely vital to Mitch's decisions for her to reveal her attempts. But, she feared that being selfish would ruin things with Scott.
Thankfully, Scott was adventurous one day while she was teaching. He knew where she kept his photos stashed in her closet, and his ever curious mind was wondering where the hidden photos were. He spent a good twenty minutes searching through all of the corners of the closet, only to find that nothing was there. He was dying to know about the missing link to his life. There was a huge chunk of life he had yet to learn about, and it bugged him more-so than the past few years that he was still learning about. This was the most recent. This is what altered his emotional state. This is what would help him feel complete. He grew frustrated after not being able to locate anything and he leaned up against the opened door, hitting his head against the wood. Almost instantly, a large manila envelope fell out from behind the shoe rack hanging on the inside of her door. She had skillfully hidden it from the blonde, knowing he'd rummage through her stuff. He was nervous to open it, and something stopped him. He couldn't even open the tab, and it wasn't from a guilty conscious. He didn't care if she knew that he snuck into her room to find the envelope. He was just afraid to learn about his missing past. This was the part he was most nervous about. How was he connected to the boy at the hospital? Why hadn't he seen him since then? He needed to know more about him than just his name.
