Connie handed out bottles of water, opening her own and downing half of it in one go, "I will never take water for granted again," she admitted, beckoning Jacob over to her as they sat down at the makeshift nurses station,

Cam wished everyone good night, before taking a seat next to one of the wounded soldiers bedsides,

"Does he ever sleep?" Jacob asked as Connie gently undressed his wound and injected it with anaesthetic,

"Don't waste that on me," he told her as she drew up another syringe full,

"You will feel enough pain here," she shrugged, "So don't put up with pain when you don't need too," She sutured his shoulder up quickly and neatly, "And no, he hardly ever sleeps a full night,"

She woke up to see Jacob had fallen asleep, his hands resting on her bare back. She rolled onto her side, trailing her fingertips across his chest, her thumb stroking against his collarbone. "Wake up," she whispered, noticing it was still dark outside,

He held her hand, squeezing it as he woke up, "You alright?" He asked her, his voice thick with sleep,

"Yes," she whispered, "Come outside with me,"

He yawned, "Want to look at the stars?"

She nodded, watching as he handed her one of his shirts as she slipped on her knickers. He picked up a blanket and a pillow and lead them out to the benches that surrounded the now burnt out fires. "Come here princess," he whispered, laying  down on the bench with his head on the pillow, his knees bent up. She curled into his chest , her shirt falling open as he pulled the blanket up over them.

"It's beautiful out here," he spoke quietly . She smiled, running her fingertips gently up and down his bare chest, "I used to come out here when I couldn't sleep," she propped herself up so she could look at him, "I used to wish I could cuddle into you and share this place with you..." She smiled, before kissing his mouth gently, "I'm so happy that you're here,"

"I knew you were strong," he admitted, "mentally and physically... But seeing how you fix up people out here has left me completely in awe of you,"

She rolled her eyes, "I love you Jacob Masters,"

He smiled, running his hand up and down her back, "if I make you even half as happy as you make me, I'll be happy with that."
