Some more interesting things
TheCreativePotato -for inspiring this chapter and leading me to learn all this stuff I didn't know beforehand^
There are 20 Facet Poles- five for each preference (introversion vs extroversion, intuition vs sensing, thinking vs feeling, judging vs perceiving). I think this is what confuses some people when they say something like "I'm ambiverted" so they just put an X there like XNTP, I think this is where that comes into play. For example, the facet poles of introversion vs extroversion-
Initiating vs Receiving-
Initiating (E)- act as social facilitators, introducing people, connecting those with similar interests, planning and directing social gatherings
Receiving(I)- prefer to be introduced, dislike small talk, prefer in depth discussion between one or two people
Expressive vs Contained-
Expressive(E)- easily tell others their thoughts/feelings, making their interests known, readily confiding in others, seen as easy to get to know
Contained(I)- selective with sharing thoughts and feelings, rarely confide in others, hard to get to know because reactions are internal
Gregarious vs Intimate-
Gregarious(E)- enjoy being with others and belonging to groups, have many acquaintances and friends and do not sharply distinguish between them
Intimate(I)- have a limited circle of close trusted friends, prefer talking one on one to people they know well, make sharp distinction between intimate friends and casual acquaintances
Active vs Reflective-
Active(E)- like direct involvement in active environments, learn best by doing, listening, observing, and speaking, rather than reading or writing
Reflective(I)- like visual, intellectual, mental engagement, learn best by reading and writing.
Enthusiastic vs Reserved-
Enthusiastic(E)- talkative and lively, enjoy dynamic energy flow of conversations, like being the center of attention and sharing who they are in story telling, catch others up in their enthusiasm
Reserved(I)- seem quiet but often have rich internal responses to what is happening, may have difficulty describing internal state in words
Now say you got INFP but you feel like you also might be ENFP it might be because under some circumstance you've learned to, for example, be initiating over receiving. This could easily be me because for a long time I only had super introverted friends and no one planned anything so eventually I'd become the initiator, this would be one of my out of preference facets that would make me different from other INFP's.
Now sadly this is more of a figure it out for yourself kind of deal, so you do kind of need to know yourself fairly well, because the online test is mula and I don't know what questions they ask, though I know sort of how its "graded" and how they correlate to your personality altogether.
