34.A Lion With a Mission

I woke to find John next to me. “James, I'm so glad you're awake. I have great news!” he cheered as he adjusted his wheelchair.

“What?” I asked quickly. I was so tired, but I could sleep after John's news.

“Check your neck!” he exclaimed.

I reached up and ran my hands around my neck. “The collar...its gone! The collar is gone!” I screamed happily. “But how?”

“They arrested my father,” Anna answered as she entered my curtain area.

“Then they destroyed the button,” continued Dr. Jason as he followed Anna.

“So now you are free of the painful shocks and believe me, I know they were painful,” John laughed, while Dr. Jason and I joined in; but Anna stood there almost in tears.

“I'm sorry Anna about your father,” I told her as I reached out for her.

“You shouldn't be. He is who made us into what you still are and he forced you to do his bidding. He was evil,” she cried before she rushed off.

I started to get mad and John said, “She just feels bad that you haven't totally changed back yet.”

“I know,” I growled as my tail appeared and fur started to grow.

“Tomorrow, we can go home! Isn't that great?” John asked happily.

“No, I'm going home today!” I roared before racing off in my lion body. I ran through the hospital, freaking out everyone I passed; but I didn't care. I only wanted my true love to be happy and I knew something that would help.

I ran to Bob's house and jumped through an open window; then I laid down and slept for a while. When I got up again, I had returned to human and I began searching for the shots. I soon found them, hidden in a drawer; but there was only a few left. I found a bag and stuff the shots into it before placing the strap over my shoulder. I made myself mad and quickly turned into a lion before running to Anna's house. I silently slipped inside and went upstairs. I crawled onto my bed and fell asleep.
