43.I Can Stop This!

The next morning, I woke up earlier than everyone else. I showered quick; then I put on a pair of jeans with a hole in the back because my tail had appeared. I grabbed some paper and left a note saying- Maple wood, red Barn, and Hole in one. I left the note under John's bedroom door; then I ran outside to the maple tree by the barn. I left another note in the hole in the tree. It said- Tail end of the plain and West corner. I dashed off to the corner and I hid underneath the tree.

John found me hours later and he asked, “Why are you hiding, James?”

I moved closer and used my tail to tap him. “This is why,” I answered sadly.

“Oh, but you can't hide out here till your complete change. They will notice; but if you put on a regular pair of pants, we might be able to trick them. Or you could just tell them,” he replied as he backed out of under the tree.

“No, I won't tell,” I declared as I backed farther in.

“Well, you will need these then; plus, check for more fur,” he commanded as he toss me some jeans.

I ran off to the woods and changed pants. I check for fur, but I didn't find any more; so I hurried back and told, “There is no more fur and this feels so weird.”

“I bet, but let's go check on King; so we have an excuse for you being gone all morning,” he laughed before we hurried to the barn. King was fine; so we went back to the house.

When I saw that my parents hadn't cooked any kind of meat, I signaled to John and we went to my room. “What's wrong?” he asked confused.

“There is no meat! I need meat!” I growled as I grabbed his shoulders.

“You can have meat, but please wait until after lunch; then you can eat with King,” he replied calmly before we both went and ate the yucky salad and pasta.

After lunch Dr. Jason, John, and I carried raw meat to the barn, where I sadly ate a good bit of it. Dr. Jason and John sat quietly in the corner as they waited for me to finished. When I was done, I asked with a meaty smile, “How long do you think I have left?”

“Not long at all,” John answered as he stared at me.

“No! I can stop this! I won't eat meat! I won't sleep!” I screamed as I stood.

“James, you just ate raw meat! There is no stopping this. If you don't eat or sleep; then you will be dangerous. James, it is too late,” Dr. Jason told and I rushed out of the barn to the tree in the back corner. I changed back into the tail-hole pants before Dr. Jason and John came running up; but Dr. Jason stopped short, when he saw my tail sticking out of my pants. “James?” he said before he whispered something to John.

“Please can I sleep here tonight?” I pleaded with unstopping tears.

“No James. Put on the normal pants and let's have dinner,” commanded John as he held the pants out to me.

“John no! It hurts!” I cried as I covered my face with my hands.

“James please. Anna is waiting,” Dr. Jason pleaded.

“Fine,” I hissed before I rushed off to change pants again.

I ate supper before going to my room and changing pants again. I relaxed on my bed reading, while my tail flicked around the room. Annie came in and began laughing before she ran off to get Anna. I quickly returned to the normal pants and Anna came rushing in. “James, what is this nonsense that you have a tail?” she asked concerned.

“No, I don't have a tail,” I answered calmly.

“Okay honey. Good night,” she said before she left. I changed pants again and fell asleep with the tip of my tail under my head.
