16.Locked In, Fake Fishing

The next morning, I woke up startled; then I remembered that I was at Bob's house. I got up and went into the bathroom that was connected to the bedroom. After a quick shower, I tried to open the bedroom door; but it was locked from the outside. I yelled and pounded on the door until Bob came to the door and opened a tiny, secret window. “Good morning, James,” he greeted all innocent like.

“Whats wrong? Why have you locked me in here?” I screamed in his face.

“Nothing is wrong. I will bring you breakfast in a few minutes,” he responded before he closed the secret door.

I paced the room as I waited for him to return, while I tried to figure out why Bob had locked me up. He soon returned and opened a second, bigger window, which he slid in a tray of food. I took the tray and laid it on the desk. “Bob let me out!” I yelled before he closed the window.

He opened the smaller secret window and replied, “I can't do that. Now eat!” He closed the door again and I let out a hiss. I sat at the desk and stared at the meager meal, which consisted of a piece of toast and a cup of milk. I slowly savored every bite and sip; then I laid on the bed staring at the ceiling.

After hours of lying there, Bob stuck another tray of food through the big window and before he could close it, I yelled, “What will Anna think?”

“Oh, she thinks we have gone fishing for a week,” he chuckled before closing it again. I sat down and ate the tiny lunch; then I fell asleep.
